Ok. I know this is a topic that has been covered again and again. And again. But I thought the 1 A.M closing hours had been suspended. For now. So, to my surprise, when I ventured out on some rare outings to the Reggae Pub on Samui the other day, I found that it actually closed at 1! And, when asking around, everybody said that in fact all the bars on Samui will close at this untimely hour from now on. Is this happening only on Samui? Can I still get a beer in, say, Pattaya after one o'clock?

Last night was the first night that many bars, clubs etc. closed at 01.00. They were advised 24 hours in advance of this change in policy. IE Q bar, Bed Supperclub, Nana plaza were closed at 1 AM. Other places remained open until the, up to now, normal 2 AM closing time. I can only confirm that Soi 23 was still open until 02.00.

It seems that new laws / policies are made up to compensate for the rejected blanket midnight closing proposal. It is very sad indeed that part of the fun will be taken away from both local consumers and from tourists.

pattaya remains unchanged, you can get a beer 24 hrs.

Yo dave i think we should have a re-think about advertising the fact that pattaya is open 24-7,

1 they might clamp down

2 all the punters will be here moving in on our fun

3 lack of lbfm's resulting from no.2

just a thought what do you reckon???

did i say pattaya was still party town!, sorry i meant its like a ghost town, nothing to see here.

Be careful, sweetest Mango might get aroused by this talk and park his sack in your sleepy town :D

i'd park my foot in his sack.

:o

we could make him known to the public, that would get rid of him. :D

So do people still sit around drinking beer outside the supermarkets after the bars have closed in Chaweng? The reduced licencing hours really upped the tone of the place!

"Closing hours, where and when ?"

We don't know yet. We are still waiting Godot.

:o

We are still waiting Godot.
Well Estragon. Let me know when "Godot" shows up... But don't wait too long.

Seriously. Open after 1 or not! Nobody's after to spoil "your fun". In socialist Europe (where I am from) we like to "share"...

Sorry! Guess my stay in LOS has seriously damaged my (usually alert) irony-detector. My white arse is Pattaya-bound!

Don't know if you were out last night DaveThailand, but walking street and all other Soi's were shut at 1:30 and there was such a heavy police presence they were actually telling farang to "go back hotel" "go sleep"!

All disco's didn't even get the chance to open, let alone close down... Groups of girls hanging around outside disco's were handcuffed and taken away by police... This seems terribly coincidental after we spent the weekend posting about Pattaya being open all night and being able to drink. Call me paranoid, but I believe that certain authorities monitor this forum, and the crack down has begun.

NB. Spoke to a friend in Chang Rai who claims its the "New Pattaya" with disco's and Bars open all night, with 10 girls to every farang... Perhaps we should have a look there.

winle

maybe some top secret tourist police volunteers are watching our every move :o

i stayed in last night but i just spoke to my manager and we closed normal time, just after 2am,

Winle, you don't know what you're talking about! I was in Walking Street and JP's bar until at least 4am last night - no sign of any bars closing to me. Unless your post was a wind-up...

200 bht a night.

lets not have a thread on how much bars in pattaya pay.

You are right Dave. We all know that the Thaivisa site is well read by various Government agencies.

Ok. We all agree then. All bars i Pattaya close at 1. Period.

(So this forum is where the Govt. Agencies get their intelligence? Must have picked up some intelligence gathering tips from Bush...)

has the time come to put davethailand to bed to protect my identity, i've been wanting to change my name anyway.

Perhaps no need to change, just put a rak in between Dave and Thai.

Somebody will like you for that?
