RT@vaitor: Local Thai Media stating Police raided suspects house and identified him as a Turkish national (28 years old) -http://t.co/VvFY1FjMeC

The only similarity between the photo and the picture is both have a head with ears on it.

Are you guys forgetting that the artist's sketch was made from blurry CCTV pics and not the actual suspect sitting down for a portrait pic? You give the guy on the right glasses and longer hair and he sure as hell does look like the person shown on the left.

Police spokesman say suspect carries fake Turkish passport

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thawornsiri said the suspect arrested in Bangkok's Nong Chok district carried a fake Turkish passport.

As a result, police could not yet confirm his nationality yet.

Prawut said the suspect was not the bomber but might belong to the movement as police found bomb making materials in his room, including 0.5-mm ball bearings used in the bombs that exploded at the Erawan Shrine and the Sathorn pier.

Re all the mentions about Turks and Turkey, I think it's worth pointing out -- at this point -- that this guy may or may not be an actual Turk.

Clearly, his passport is fake. Thus, as noted above, even the police at this point are not confirming the guy arrested is in fact a Turk. Time will tell.

Just thinking outside the box. I've just blow the hell out of a public place killing and maiming a lot of people. CCTV catches my escape. I've had days to get the heck out of Dodge. Why I'm I still in my room with a bunch of materials that could be used for bomb making. Personally, especially considering the media was saying there was not a good CCTV coverage, I'd be in a different country, and back to whatever sick terror cell I came from. But no! The "Suspect" stays. Like one of the previous posters said. Wait and see.

Arrogance and getting ready for the next bombing, not to hard to imagine

Show me the bomber's motive to justify the arrest!

He's an Uighur or other national militant bound for Syria via Turkey. ISIL was funneling militants through Thailand and Malaysia, giving them fake Turkish passports, and then sending them to Turkey so that they could fight for ISIL in Syria. When Thailand deported the Uighurs to China, it disrupted ISIL's operation. Hence, a revenge attack against Thailand.

With pressure mounting I'm very skeptical that this isn't a set up by the police. They are notorious for planting evidence and it's uncanny how this is all happening right after they were heavily criticized for being inept.

Cant see this guy being the actual bomber somehow, that ones long gone unless hes a lone nutcase doing his thing

I can see him being one of a small group though.

Now for the made up rubbish and the usual merry go round from papers and police.

As for the RTP you can bet 99% it was probably a tip off not good police work. ;)

RT@RichardBarrow: Photos of some of the evidence found in the apartment of the suspected bomber - RT @sataporn_pptv: http://t.co/4qMBGZliOP #Thailand

Bomb making equipment? I hope they really found more than a moneybelt, few backpacks, 5 batteries, 2 sissors, 2 screwdrivers, and a bag of bb gun pellets from panthip plaza or china town...

That "money belt" looks very much hand made, and if I was a betting man, which is illegal in Thailand, I'd be thinking along the lines of the beginnings of a suicide vest.

Profiling too, that guy doesn't look like he's a cool calm and collective bomber, he looks more like the patsy you'd give a backpack/vest to, and tell him to walk over into the crowd.

No significant quantities of mobile phones either, very little electrical wire, a couple of 9V batteries, it lacks significant components to be a serious bomb makers base.

A question re the photos that have been posted in this thread thus far:

None of the photos that I've seen posted here thus far seem to show any actual explosives or actual bombs.

But tonight, my wife showed me some photos floating around the Thai social media that showed what look like pipe bombs supposedly having been retrieved from this guy's rooms.

Anyone seen any pipe bomb photos from any credible sources associated with this guy's arrest?

BTW, I see the BKK Post's current web report is saying police did retrieve pieces of pipe from the guy's apartment.

So many posters seem upset the police may have busted the terrorist gang- and from a tip-off too! From what I've seen police forces around the world rely on tip-offs, sometimes they ignore them as in The World Trade Centre attacks where flying instructors warned the police their Saudi students weren't interested in learning how to take off or land a plane, just how to fly!, but the police ignored them.

Well done whoever, apartment owner and/or police if you have started to crack this case.

Among the matterials, police found 0.5mm-diameter ball bearings that were the same type with the bombs that exploded at the Erawan Shrine and the Sathorn Bridge on August 17 and 18.

0.5 MILLIMETER? That's tiny, man. I imagine they'd do a lot of damage close to the bomb when they were at their highest velocity, but they couldn't have much mass. They couldn't do much damage a few meters farther away, could they? Let's see, there's 254 millimeters in an inch, so one of these tiny "ball bearings" would be less than 1/500th of an inch in diameter. You're getting down to microscopic, here.

I haven't had time to read all the posts, but I haven't seen any relating to the reward money.

BBC say there is a 1 million bah reward, but I remember that Thaksin offered considerably more.

I wonder if he will pay if this really is the guy.

I thought the RTP posted pictures of detonators ? Have a scan at previous posts....

Don't you think this is a mistake and should be 0.5 cm (5mm)?

The photo and photofit look compelling.

It doesn't show who funded it.

Why is public enemy number 1 still in BKK?

Lets see it the the evidence is real. I mean just look at Koh Tao.

If its real we can expect him being paraded in public etc etc.

If its a fit up, we can expect a Pakistani interpreter and the suspect to be 'influenced' to make a confession over a number of days.

The police said they didn't have a clue, so why leave? I wonder if that was part of the strategy.

I was thinking the same thing but it seems too much for them to set up. Just a lucky break from somebody who reported a strange guy renting a bunch of apartments.

I can only imagine they mean 5mm which would cause serious damage.

Yes there is some retarded people who would like this to remain unsolved. Just for them so they can slag off the police and the investigation.
