Funny all the naysayers.... oh the Chinese don't spend. As a Thai, and Thai-Chinese at that, trust me, we'll find some way to charge you, them, and anyone else. "After all... we are not communists."

:-)

Only problem is that most of these Chinese tourists are not from the upper class. They pay 10000 baht for a complete package from China including flights and hotel with meals . Maybe they spend a few baht on water bottles. I hardly ever see them drink in bars.

You may rest assured that the Chinese are going to move to Pattaya and open up a lot of slop shops and short time operation. The new love affair between Thailand and China promotes this. Pattaya can handle about 100,000 resident Chinese. Also remember that 100k are coming to build and operate the trains.

more bad news. Pattaya is screwed up.

Tell them the dam is empty and to bring their own water for drinking, showering and swimming. I just took a look at a previous post picture of where their water comes from and it looks bone dry. As in National Lampoons Vacation to Wally World you might as well put up a sign "No Water Closed For This Reason" If they are putting on extra flights maybe they should be water bombers.

1 Million? Hmmm.....giggle.gif

7 flights weekly x 180 = 1260 seats weekly = 65.520 seats yearly

Just make it up. It sounds good. And few people in the world are good at math. My son is bad at math, so most people must find it difficult. So, nobody will know we made up the numbers, and then fed it to an exceptionally compliant media.

With a total of 7 flights each of 180 passengers you need to extend the year to 15.26 years. I am sure the TAT can do that

Yep. It's called fake communism. But hey, after all Mc Donald does call their joints 'restaurants', and nobody seems to mind.

When he was already quite old, Karl Marx was asked one day : "So, Mr Marx, how would you define Marxism?"

- "I don't know, he replied, all I know is I'm not a marxist".

Mind you, in the club of philosophers/prophets whose message was thoroughly distorted, defaced, used and abused by their self proclaimed 'disciples', he's got company : Confucius, Siddahrta Gautama, Plato, Jesus Christ, Mohammad, the list goes on. So does the damage. It's not religions or philosophies that distort human beings, it's the other way round.

Karl Marx admitted that Communism as he described could not work in reality. He was right but people amend it to suit themselves. China is an example.

I have invested in an investment condo at UNIXX so any news on improving tourist numbers including expanding the local airport at a cost or 200 million baht as well as creating the high speed train to Pattaya is good financial news to my ears.

As it stands now the market is weak, but give it 3 years with infrastructure upgrades and an elected government in power (before the next round of violence) the property prices will be much healthier than now.

Now there is tue colonial logic for you. Add that it is widely reported that the Australian dollar will hit low 40's against the US dollar = about 15 baht, you will need to do a lot of praying for you precious Junta to allow an elected government in your time frame. As for the infrastructure upgrades, forget it, by the time the military have taken their cuts, there will be precious little else left. Happy investing, would have been safer to invest in Syria, you know what they say a fool and his money are soon parted. Anyway not all is lost, the Chinese will be happy to take it of your hands at the upcoming fire sale when they are the government you were expecting to be elected.

Did you mean to say the Thai baht will reach low 40's against U.S. dollar ? And that the Aus will equal 15 Baht ? In which case one U.S. dollar will equal 2.66 Aus : (40/15)

So 40 Baht/$ / 2.66 Aus/$ = 15 Baht/Aus

Lenin's simple question (Kto ktom in Russian) ["who whom"] will echo forever down the halls of history.

That is, if you want to know how a particular country is governed, who profits most from the way things are, just ask "who whom"...that is, who screws whom, or who fkcs whom, or who charges whom etc etc....fill in your own verb. It works every time.

big chinese planes directly to pattaya ? are they going to make a sea landing strip ?

Yes they will use Hercules planes that can carry up to 5000 people and big ships are waiting to take them to Pattaya . It's a part of the whole adventure.

Their flag leaders will then take over and escort them safely to the nearest go go bar where they will enjoy the entertainment for 20 minutes, then have a look at WS to spot the drunk farang for 10 minutes, then it's time to go to sleep in a 300 baht room.

Not all Chinese visitors will be coming in tour groups. There is an ever growing middle class who are younger and independently minded. They will travel independently and will also buy property if they like it here and in due course Pattaya will learn to cater for the Chinese just as they have catered for many other nationalities. Though illegal at present, I can see a future in Pattaya that includes large casinos and hotels as in Vegas, Singapore & Macao. The construction of the Thailand - China high speed railway (confirmed last week) will bring many more Chinese to the area, to work and play. Get used to it or get away from Pattaya. I believe all nationalities can live and prosper in Pattaya together. The more the merrier for me. The infrastructure will grow to meet demand; the Chinese will see to that if the Thais don't get on the ball themselves.

And what about the low class criminal farangs that are running from something or someone that move to Thailand to try to hide. I worked in China for 8 years and found the Chinese people very honest and easy to work with. I grew jalapeno peppers there for export to Thailand. It was a great experience working with honest good educated people and farmers.

Not sure I get your message.

Did Communism suddenly become a religion? Or did I miss something?

Boosting the tourist numbers by putting extra flights from Jiangxi and Guangxi provinces is not in line with TAT's ambition to increase "high end tourists".

No disrespect to Air Asia, but an economy airline bringing people for economically poor areas will be good for occupancy rates and charter tour bus companies, but a disaster for the rest of the area. It will bring voyeurs happy to stare out of bus windows but very shy of putting their hands in their pockets for anything other than counterfeit goods.

As far as I know there is no country with a "pure" political philosophy. France is Socialist Capitalism, USA is part -Socialist Capitalism, China is Capitalist-Communism. I am sure there are bits you could put another label on. The point is, If I criticize China for its non-Communist bits, I am trying to put on labels that don't really work.

IMHO When China cut out is religious heritage it gave the population a new religion of working hard and gain wealth through any means necessary. Though I met a couple of cool couples at Boy Blues in CM.

There are many good Chinese but the majority of the ones currently in Pattaya are rough. Again IMHO

U-Tapao has a 3,500m runway, built to handle B52s. I'd think it can handle large passenger planes. But the terminal needs to be upgraded.

Common guys give Jamie a break,he reads all the BS from TAT and believes every single word of it, so his investment is sound for the future because TAT says so!

Myself I think the moon is made of cheese, more plausible
