I have had Windows 10 since it launched and a number of auto updates. In the past week or so, if I have several tabs open in Chrome and attempt to close a single tab, Chrome freezes. The only thing I can do is close Chrome and relaunch it.

It doesn't always happen and when it does happen, it doesn't seem to matter which website I try to close. No unusual extensions appear to have been enabled on Chrome and Malwarebytes doesn't turn up anything.

Any ideas as to cause or cure? Thanks.

It's a common issue. Apparently Google are working on it. If you search you will find an overwhelming number of suggested fixes.

Have you tried uninstall/install?

Thanks. If it's common, maybe I'll wait for Google to fix it.

I did search the issue, but the first few discussions I checked didn't offer much help.

"Have you tried uninstall/install?"

May try that later. Always worried that doing that will screw up more than it solves.

Windows 10.

Yes, I have that problem rather too often.

All tabs locked - impossible to close any tab.

I just wait for it to work again.

I had that problem also after upgrading to Win 10...only Chrome would lockup...not IE or Edge. Happened 3 or 4 times at least....then (knock on wood) the problem seemed to go away....haven't had the problem for around a week now....I think that is about the time Chrome Version 45.0.2454.85 got released which is what I'm running now.

Check error log in google. After updating to the latest version of Chrome 45 is a lot of different errors. For me, problem caused an antivirus program, the same that was installed at all times. Before upgrading chrome as well. Suddenly, after the update began to deteriorate. Chrome was supposed to be the latest update faster, and I see rots in a billion ways.
