BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court yesterday sentenced 38-year-old Laos national Weerapan Inthawong - known in social media as the "Siam Mafia" thug - to one year, two months and 15 days in prison.

The sentence was further reduced to 14 months due to his useful confession. The sentence combined penalties related to charges of illegal entry into Thailand, assault and insults aimed at two individuals in two separate incidents and the theft of another woman's valuables.

Weerapan was arrested at the Sutthisan metro station on Tuesday, after camera footage of him allegedly attacking a woman on a Bangkok subway went viral.

Very lenient sentence, why? this is a thug who prey on the weak and women, he's a menace to society and should be

locked up for much longer period, had he been sentenced in Laos, he wouldn't see the light of day for many years....

Siam Mafia jailed for 14 months



BANGKOK: -- The woman beater who earned the nickname of Siam Mafia was on Thursday sentenced to 14 months and 15 days in prison by the Pathumwan district court.

38-year old Veerapan Inthawong, an illegal immigrant from Laos, became infamous overnight after VDO clips posted in the social media showed him intimidating a teenager at a five-star shopping mall in Pathumwan area. The clip went viral and attracted a flood of negative comments against him.

He was also accused of beating up a woman in the underground train at Hua Lamphong terminal simply because she stepped on his foot and did not apologise him.

The court found him guilty of several counts of offences, including assault, illegal entry, insulting and intimidation and theft.

And to think Yuyee got 15 years for a spec of gear & 2 OAP's got 15 years for picking a few mushrooms to feed themselves. This repeat offender is scum and deserves a much longer sentence, what he could he do apart from confess because some of his crimes were caught on camera, absolute BS

Such a special treatment means he must in reality be "Thai National". No wonder the cops were giggling at the lady victim slapping that bastard on the back of the head.

I'm not 100% sure he's guilty, as he was not escorted by 1500 cops to conduct a re-enactment.

Wow that was extremely fast sentencing. Other cases with high profiles takes a minimum a decade to reach a sentence

apparently this man is a well known criminal a laos national and he goes round assaulting women I think the courts should deal with him more firmly a sentence of 14 months is ridiculous it should be 3 years at least.

Saw this poove blubbing like a baby on the telly the other day.

Shame for him he doesn't have a rich, influential relative hidden away as then he could have killed a few people on his way to Singapore/Hong Kong while being 'unwell'.

BANGKOK: -- The Pathumwan Municipal Court sentenced "Mafia Siam" to fourteen months and fifteen days in jail yesterday for his shameful attacks, including punching a woman on an MRT train.

Weerapan Inthawong, 38, locally known as “Mafia Siam” for his random assaults primarily on women and teens in the Siam Square area, was thrown into Klong Prem Central Prison yesterday after a friend of his latest victim used social media to find evidence to lead to his arrest.
