Been a while since using this and cant see on their website. New Central Westgate I noticed when passing by car has a BTS terminal a 100 yards away... is it open yet and whats the terminal name. Many Thanks

No not open yet, (i live around there and heard it will take an other year). Not sure how the stations will be called but probably something with Bangyai. There is an other long thread on that bts extension but I cant find it.

And how is it inside Westgate? Is it all finished now?

Any good restaurants there?

CENTRAL WESTGATE is already finished and full of restaurants many good one too :)

the mall is quiet big you should walk in circle direction .

and mostly restaurant is at 3rd floor.

The BTS station not yet available so now need to go by personal car or public bus.

Do you know what bus number goes there ? Maybe a bus that goes near a BTS or MRT station (that is open smile.png )

thanks

Went there tonight for a dinner. After driving around 45 min on the parking lots we left, without going in and wont come back.

The parking-signs told there are loads of free places, we couldn't find any.

Top floor parkingdeck was a huge swimmingpool, there was no place free but even if there was i wouldn't want to spoil my leather shoes in the pool.

What a bad design again, can only be done by a .......

Also it is far from finished is what i saw from the parking.

Parking is a problem though you probably took the first garage, there is a second much less crowded. But I admit it takes time to figure it all out. It certainly is finished I been there many times (mostly on the bike). There are still new shops opening so please don't make up lies that you can't substantiate.

The reason you saw parking spaces that you could not find is clear to me (had the same problem) is that there are some reserved spaces for people who have disabilities but the sensors count those spaces too. While they are only for those people with a disability.

It did take me time to figure out the different building for car parking as I live only 4 km away I usually take the motorbike, but the first building is often full just don't go into the first option for parking. They should have made that clearer.

Thanks , I looked on Google Maps and its a long way from Central BKK , even by expressway over 30 minutes if no traffic ,

I think I will wait for the BTS / MRT link to open unless there is some great reason to go there ????

I don't know what garage i took, we came from Kanchana phisek and took the main entrance. Then we had to drive all around to the back and almost were on another mainroad which we had never seen before. That was the first 8 minutes of wasting time. Then we were happy to see we had to turn right into the garage and it said 130 lots free on 3rd floor. 30 on 2nd and 5 on first. We drove around ALL floors untill top deck and there it was a huge swimmingpool and no lots free!! Thanks for calling me a lier kaaskop but i sure know the difference between an occupied or empty parkinglot. And i haven't been inside as you could read so i was talking about outside the mall. But what were all those pickuptrucks doing in the parking? I bet they are still building inside.

Outside Westgate it's a big mess and much construction going on.Elevated Roads are being built, nobody knows where they go to or come from. I also thought there should be more parkinglots for such a huge mall but we couldn't find them and it was enough after more then 45 minutes searching/waiting.

It's really a disgrace that they can't develop good parkinggarages anno 2015. They parked double everywhere without any space inbetween the cars. I bet the hiso sexy girls on high heels love to push 10 cars to get out, dream on.

I hope IKEA arrives fast and shows them how to develop good parkinglots. Outside i counted 14 parkingguards doing nothing but there nobody to assist for parking inside. That's why it all took so long.

The biggest mall of Bangkok it might be but also the most laughable. We went to Central Rattanathibet to have dinner finally, easy parking there.

You haven't been inside and made comments about that. i have been in the parking garage (not on top) and seen the problem. The sensors are just registering empty lots that are reserved for handicapped people. As for sexy HISO girls I never brought that up must be one of your fantasies.

Your right that there is still some work going on and that the parking is real confusing. From your description you went to the first parking lot. That is wrong but I agree they should make it more clear.

I saw plenty of hiso sexy girls on high heels in the parkinglot. Most were on the phone and they looked like models to me. I don't have nor need glasses guys.

they may have been sexy but how you know they are HiSo?

In Thailand hiso means rich, nothing more then that. And coming from a rich country i sure know what expensive clothes/shoes/purses/hairdo's/jewelry look like.

Anything else you guys know better? thumbsup.gif

I know for one better how it looks on the inside, that was why i commented on you because you decided that the bad parking meant the inside was bad too and not completed.

As for the girls plenty of pretty girls for promoting the shops and mall. Not sure if they were HiSo I have no idea about who is HiSo and who is not. But I do know its a big mall after visiting it for a couple of times a week since it has opened.

Also explained you about the parking sensors that they also register the open reserved for invalids spaces (maybe wrong but hard to have a system like that exclude them). As for what you saw with trucks and all I can't comment on it as I have only been in the car park once as most of the time I take a 5 min motorbike ride to that mall.

Did see that there was outside parking too and 1 or 2 more buildings for parking as you have seen. The motorbike parking is one of the biggest I have ever seen.

There are loads of restaurants, the cinema part is small (only 12 screens) for such a big mall its not much.

Rob i for one am old enough to make my own decisions and conclusions. I don't need you for that wai2.gif

That digital parkingguide said 130 empty lots on 3rd floor, there was NONE. There was a swimmingpool though, specially made for you to bike in the water so you feel at home.

And the red lights above the parkinglots sometimes all went off/on, just like a christmastree. But of course you'll know it better and i let you.

Based on how many times I have been there and how many times you have been there I think I would know better. However what you are describing certainly sounds bad, could have been a bad day because I have been there recently and the sensors worked great. Can only complain that they counted the invalid spaces too.

The Purple Line will be operated by BMCL not BTS, anyway, current opening date is 12 August 2016.

One more year to make the rail? The rest is finished it seems.

There is a huge carpark next to Westgate but just a little too far to park there and walk to Westgate. They should have been connected.

But with that new purple line it will be much easyier to go into the city. For what i don't know since Westgate also should have all the same shops.

That huge car park your talking about it is from the BTS. If you don't like the Westgate car park you could also have used either the hospital or Big C car park that are just before it. Alternatively I have seen that the outside parking is almost never fully full even today when I passed it.

I also have no clue why they are so slow with the BTS .. it looks almost finished but will take an whole year

Posted

Part of the reason it seems so slow is the somewhat barmy way Thai "systems" contracts are awarded, they wait until the civils is nearly complete then let the contacts for the actual railway part.

That massive structure you see is (or was 12 months ago) empty of all the bits that make it a railway, no escalators, lifts, communications, CCTV, fare collection, no track, no trains, no signalling etc etc etc.

Of course, with no systems contractors on board there's nobody to confirm correct room sizes, cable routes etc. so everything is wrong non-optimal (or even missing completely). I've lost count of how many times rooms have been re-purposed because they were too small (or excessively oversized) for their stated purpose.

The Red Line is going to suffer from the same problem sad.png

Posted

I haven't been around the purple line at night for a while but it was funny to see how they made the new streetlights under it. First they hung the lights with the cables bungling in the air, then some weeks later the cables were gone but many lights didn't work.

How hard can it be to make a streetlight work? Well for a Thai that's pretty hard and he might have to come back about 10 times to fix it.

Now they forgot the gutters under the concrete structure and the road is allready open. That roadsurface they also replaced totally after they had just made a new one.

And i wonder if they will grow plants/trees inbetween the main roads, if so then will it have a sprinkler system or will they use those wateringtrucks every night?

And how are they going to supply the shops who are coming in the new stations?

But what wonders me the most is what is above the pra nong klao bridge above the chao praya? That sure looks like a bts-station but how can we go there? Will there be a huge escalator/elevator down to the river-piers?

It's difficult to see from the main road, but the station at S8 doesn't actually extend over the river and is actually fully accessible from ground level on the eastern side of the river. It's visible on Google Streetview.
