CHUMPON:-- A 51 year old woman is in custody after being caught with an estimated 210 million baht with of drugs stashed in her car.

On Tuesday, Chumphon police told reporters how they had stopped Mrs Siripan Chatraweewong at a roadside checkpoint in the Pathiu area of the province on Sunday.

Originally Mrs Siripan told police that she was travelling to Hat Yai from Bangkok, where she had bought some clothes which she intended to sell.

Daily News reports how police became suspicious of Mrs Siripan when no clothes were found inside her Toyota Camry car.

Upon closer inspection of the vehicle, police found a secret compartment in the rear bumper of the car. Stashed inside the compartment were 680,000 yaba pills and 5kgs of crystal meth.

According to Daily News, Mrs Siripan allegedly confessed to transporting the drugs, saying she had been paid 300,000 baht to transport the drugs from Chiang Mai to Hat Yai, and that she completed the same trip on two previous occasions.

Too bad they could not have let her continue to the destination and then see what transpired, using a tracking device. Maybe they might have caught a bigger player than the mule with the nice Camry ?

300,000bht divided by 25years = 12000bht

Considering she's going to get a large bowl of rice porridge 25 yrs. seems about right.

12,000 bht a year, triple it to take into consideration her extra haulage dividends, she is going to be a 75 yr old woman before she gets out. By which time her 900,000 bht will just about buy her a bowl of rice porridge.

The irony is staggering.

But if they did that the trail would lead back to police officers, local government officials and wealthy, influential businessmen.

And how much was she paid to do these drug runs I wonder? few thousand baht and petrol money? The risk doesn't seem worth it.

As if they don't already know.

All those bags of drugs will end up right back in circulation. I wonder how many poor slobs have been arrested with some of those very same bags. They never seem to catch the source though, hmmmclap2.gif Well another good photo op for the boys in brown anyway. wai.gif

Judging from the photo, this is three times more than what can fit behind the bumper of a Camry. There isn't that much hollow space: The bumper is designed to transmit the force of an impact onto the car body

That's too much thinking for the police.

I nearly choked when I read the headline to the op, did not have my reading glasses on and thought it read - "Police arrest Thai woman found with 210 million baht worth of drugs in her arse." !!!! neus.gif

Times three my man; this was her third time. However, I doubt she got paid up front, so, times two.

Can't somehow see the movie producers clamouring for the rights on this one!

Middle-aged Thai woman in a Camry. Good so far.

Carrying 'goods' with a street value of 210 million Baht. That's a significant sum that even the most brainless 'boss' would not want to lose.

However KISS has worked before as she got through twice already. Allegedly.

"But 'boss' - it's 210 mill this time". Okay let's think up a good cover story just in case fourteen of Thailand's finest jump out of a hedge and aren't convinced she is going to visit friends/family etc

"Got it". Just tell them she is taking those 20 tonnes of apples to a cider maker in Hat Yai as they are offering a better price!"

A suspicious/cynical person might suspect this whole thing is made up whistling.gif
