Myanmar student charged over FB porn snaps

Yangon - A university student has been charged by police after his former girlfriend accused him of uploading pornographic photos of her to Facebook, according to Yangon Region police.

According to police records, the couple split up in January and the student was accused of sending abusive messages via Viber and uploading photos that portrayed her as a prostitute.

"We are investigating her complaint and we cannot grant bail to him as he can be sentenced to three years in prison if he is found guilty," said a police officer.

The police opened the case under the Communications Law.

I half to say this is a good arrest No one should be able to upload porno of an ex girlfriend/boyfriend

Not nice

I've seen prostitutes, most always they are fully clothed. Porno must be a Myranmar word for 'pay us to get out'. Facebook would take down any overly 'sexy' pictures as a matter of corporate policy.

The police opened the case under the Communications Law.

If you MUST post porn on the internet...have enough sense not to use FB to air your disdain for your ex...duh...

I can hardly wait to see how the "Thai Gateway to the Internet" includes new laws covering every aspect of Internet usage...

Censorship can be an affective tool in an oppressive society...

Many more bogus arrests could be forthcoming...for everyone's protection...don't you know...

Guilty until proven innocent. Looks like Myanmar is borrowing Thai justice.
