BANGKOK: -- SEVEN people who allegedly stole Bt10 million worth of electric transformers and cables from a solar-powered electricity-generating plant in Prachin Buri's Sri Maha Pho district last Friday have been arrested.

But the alleged mastermind, Anuparp Itthisakul, 38, remains at large.

Police yesterday presented evidence of the alleged burglary of Anyanee (Hua Wa 2) Company's factory, including two transformers, one forklift truck, one Toyota pickup truck, two crane trucks, two 22-wheel trucks, and a 9mm pistol with 30 bullets in two magazines.

The suspects were named as Phakphakin Boonsiriphakin, 33, who allegedly planned the theft and hired the trucks used in the crime; Orasa Netthanomsak, 43, owner of a truck-rental business; Amnart Thunmeaung, 33, driver of a rented truck; Ampheong Puyasan, 50, driver of a rented truck; Thongchai Kwansombat, 54, owner of the forklift truck; Nathee Suwanharn, 40, driver of the forklift truck; and Prachak Maneein, 34, who allegedly stored the stolen items at his office warehouse until they could be disassembled and sold off. They were charged with conspiring to rob the factory of hardware by using weapons and vehicles.

Pol Maj-General Kittipong Ngaomook, deputy chief of Provincial Police Region 2, said at least five hooded men broke into a factory owned by Anyanee (Hua Wa 2) Company between the hours of 1am and 2.30am on Friday. They tied up two security guards in the office and got away with the said items.

Police are investigating security-camera footage of five vehicles at the scene.

Orasa came forward and told the police her truck had been used in the robbery without her knowledge, Kittipong said, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

So the owner of the truck rental business is claiming that the trucks were used in the robbery without her knowledge Seems plausible, she had no control over what was done with the vehicles after she had hired them out.

the police arrested the suspects including a woman who said one of her trucks had been used in the robbery without her permission ?
