tourist visa to AU. 12 month multiple entry

Featured Replies

Simple question but can't seem to find definitive answer.

So my tgf just received her tourist visa. Valid for 12 months multiple entry. MAX stay 3 months.

Now I know this does not allow her to enter stay 3 months , do a visa runs and effectively spend year in AU.

My question is how many days in that 12 period can she spend in AU. Not directly applies to us as we live in los and travel.

If she adhere's to the visa conditions, she can do visa runs and return straight away.

Spending too much time in Oz though, could raise the eyebrows of Immigration officers.

There is no "set" amount of time you can spend on that visa. More than 6 months in a 12 month

period can be used as a guide but there's nothing definitive. It would be assessed case by case.

So in answer to your question, legally, she could basically spend virtually 12 months in Oz but would

more than likely be chatted by immigration.

Thanks Will27 that's what I thought. I'm not planning it but reminds me of Thailand . In that often no exact rules for example visa exempt stamp. I imagined AU would set out more detailed guidelines. Seems not
