Glasgow tower blocks fail to fall

GLASGOW: -- It should have been the end of the road for six tower blocks in Glasgow, Scotland. But the planned mass demolition of the buildings which had been part of the city landscape for years did not go to plan.

After the explosions and the smoke two defiant buildings remained partially upright. The block of flats is known locally as the Red Road Towers.

Last year I saw a photo of an area outside the flats showing a group of boys playing cricket and not a white face amongst them as they were all from immigrant families. The story then went into the sob factor about how things weren't working out as the migrants wanted and a Russian couple were so distressed they committed suicide.

I wonder if anyone reading the story at that time had any inkling what was about to happen in Europe with consequences that will last ad infinitum ?

This is at least less embarrassing as the original plan to include the live demolition of these blocks of flats during the Commonwealth games opening ceremony in Glasgow last year!

It was only stopped as the Glasgow City Council did not think the demolition would send out the PC signal!
