It always amazes me how rich these generals get on their military salary. Must have pinched a lot of satang's. Does no one ever question their unexplained riches? coffee1.gif

Its not unusual for generals to have hundreds of millions in "declared" wealth alone... That's not counting the bulk..

"going into five battle fields in the past"

wow that's five battle fields 99.99% of Thailand have never heard of... pray tell more about these brave events where you were saved by the 'unusually expensive amulet'

stop press :

1/ the weekly shopping at Big C

2/ the lottery scramble to get the best tickets

3/ the rush to avoid the 'misses' on the way to the 'mia noi'

4/ the collection of the monthly military pension

5/ the dastardly dangerous business of negotiating parking at the local karaoke

Sir you deserve a medal!!! oh you have loads? ok you deserve a 30m payout for the prayer room

I am still trying to get my head around " five battle fields in the past."

Was that in a previous life and he was re-incarnated as he is now??? Or, as someone suggested, for visiting old battlefields.

Senility can be a curse!

There's something to be said for being a complete non-believer, no expensive equipment to buy even if it's just to show off your wealth.

When something goes wrong there's not the trauma of having to doubt your belief and wonder why your devotion is rewarded in such a way.

Searching agnostics rock.

"Former premier Gen Chavalit Yongchaiyudh said today that the fire at his home's pray room on Wednesday night caused damages estimated at about 30 million baht."

How does someone on a military salary earn enough money that only one room in his house is worth 30 over million baht?

He should be sent to the farm regions to teach the poor farmers the proper prayers for prosperity. And they can teach him how to control his rodent problem.

he was a PM. don't you think that the manager of the whole country should get less salary than any huge corporation president in the same country?

in Singapore PM gets 1.7 million $ a year. (his with 5.3m population. in Thailand it's 66m). And he does his best to keep government expenses low, but management quality high. this is normal for a country manager to get a huge salary. only leftists can't admit it. that's why in countries where leftist rule the quality of governance is so low. but bureaucracy and government expenses are so high.

"it was the amulet that he had worn around his neck while going into five battle fields in the past"

What battles did I miss? Was he talking about a past life?

Burning the communists throughout Isaan and the Deep South in oil barrels.

Ins won't cover it, unless it was specifically listed on the insurance policy. Most policies cover only the basic house and contents. Adding Antiques to the coverage will cost an unusually high premium (based on %of value insured). Ins. Cos aren't dummies. Remember that the business of an insurance company is to collect premiums and to do everything it can to not pay out. Interested poster there, referred to Big Jew as I call him. Rama 5 called the Chinese the Jews of Asia. From my private source, The Burma timber 'business' was very lucrative in the '80's

Insurance must be paying... If not there would be no need to advertise that a small fire in his "pray room" cost 30 million in damages...

Why would he release that information with a specific number as well?

Especially if that might be unusually wealthy under the new charter of confiscation of assetts
