House officials plan to wear black on Monday to protest the NCPO’s order

BANGKOK:-- Parliament officials plan to wear black on Monday to protest against the appointment of an “outsider” to succeed their boss who was removed by the National Council for Peace and Order.

Officials of the office of the House secretary-general started lobbying their colleagues through the social media to wear black on Monday shortly after Mr Chare Chanpruang, the House secretary-general, was transferred to an inactive post in the Prime Minister’s Office by an order of the NCPO chief General Prayut Chan-ocha.

The order also appointed Mr Nut Phasuk, a legal advisor at the office of the Senate secretary-general, to replace Mr Chare at the office of the House secretary-general.

The disgruntled House officials were reported to have said that they were not satisfied with Mr Nut’s appointment because he was considered as an outsider and, above all, he still has seven years to serve in the service before his retirement.

Mr Nut’s appointment, they argued, will block the career path of several senior officials at the office of the House secretary-general.

If this change is to diminish nepotism, or place the most qualified individual in said position I applaud the decision. Here this might be a strange concept.

There is possible a notice of tradition that has now been interfered with , but as stated by Selfaopath and I endorse , if this ensures a better out comes or stops nepotism that's fine , they also have stifled career prospects, that is in tradition , so all in all Prayut- O lot isn't a happy lot I am all for the wearing of black , co-operation in this area is vital to the smooth running of the house , throwing press releases in the bin would be an another option.

It is a real pain to be appraisred on productibity, working well with others, etc instead of senority date of appointment / hire. Especially to the likes of those which has been the norm so apparent to the public in the past.

I don't think that career paths of senior officers, military, police or civil service have very much to do with ability, suitability or merit.
