Fifa fires FAT executive board

Fifa has decided to remove the entire executive board of the Football Association of Thailand after ordering the postponement of the election of the association’s president and executive board scheduled on Saturday.

Fifa said it had put in place a normalization committee to oversee the election of a new executive board by February 16 the latest.

The removal of the FAT executive board came four days after Fifa’s ethics committee suspended FAT president Worawi Makudi for 90 days over possible breach of Fifa’s code of ethics.

Mr Worawi had been FAT president since 2007. He was due to stand for re-election on Saturday against former national soccer team Thawatchai Sajakul and Pisan Jundilok.

The normalization committee includes Admiral Soravuth Maharom, former chairman of the Thai atheletes committee; Mr Thana Chaiprasit, chief of Thai atheletes; Mr Sattaya Aruntharee, deputy attorney-general; Mr Manat Watthanasarn, legal director of Sports Authority of Thailand; Ms Choenchanok Siriwat and Mr Pinit Sasinin.

Good luck in attempting to sue FIFA to save face. Thai football is now experiencing great results on the field, lets hope the off field antics by this grime doen't have too much of a negative effect on this.

As 99% of the nation are unable to read English due to the elite wanting to keep the nation uneducated, they will have no other external source to inform them. Much like all the other BS that is fed to them on a daily basis.

Football is a big deal here and there's lots of coverage in all aspects of the Thai media so English doesn't really come into it.

The question is will the local media cover it in any detail or will they follow any line the govt may take ?

It is hard to believe that FIFA actually knows what 'ethics' are.

I presume this has nothing to do with the very beneficial (then) deal PTT signed with Qatar after Thailand voted for that well known footballing metropolis to host the World Cup. It's presumably also a coincidence that a well known shareholder in PTT lives in Dubai which is not too far from Qatar.

The foxes (or should that be "the Foxes") are in charge of the hen houses of English football. All you have to do to become an owner in the EPL (and below) is demonstrate that you are a "fit and proper person". Nice and vague, and pure BS.

A friend was in the Australian football committee in the AUS some 20 years ago, went for a FIFA conference in Europe - don't remember for what. He was put in a penthouse suite and girls were sent to his room ... guessing it had something to do with vying for votes from Australia

The attorney of the FA was yesterday already turning things around, telling Thais how the English text from FIFA had to be interpreted, and it sounded nowhere near to what was, very clearly and in simple wording, written by FIFA...
