Yala affected by smog again this month

YALA, 20 October 2015 (NNT) - Smog has blanketed Yala province and caused poor road visibility.

The southern province has been covered in smog since yesterday afternoon. Small white particles can be seen suspended in the air today, particularly on Highway 418, which links Yala and Pattani provinces.

Commuters have been told to exercise caution when driving. The amount of air particles has not yet caused any significant impact on public health.

Those with respiratory illnesses have been warned to wear face masks while outdoors. Authorities say situation will improve only if there is rain or wind to mitigate the haze.

This incident marks the second time this year that Indonesian wildfires have affected the South of Thailand.

I have driven from Penang to Surat Thani yesterday and the smog was everywhere along the way.

First thought that is was fog but found out, from locals, that it was smog/smoke from Indonesia.

Very bad all the way.
