Selling plants online

Recommended Posts

Well for starters, you might find the Australian Quarantine and Customs Departments would take a very dim view of ANY attempts

to send Plants into Australia.

Your products will be intercepted by Quarantine and Destroyed unless you are somehow, able to get a clearance on certain plants, which I rather doubt is going to happen but you can try.

Best of luck !

Apart from quarantine , you will also get quite a few problems with plants left out on the tarmac in the hot sun then placed into the cold temperature of cargo holds , squashed and damaged plants from transit.and careless handling .

And what plants are there available in Thailand that are not available from the warmer climates of USA or Australia. You will be competing with a lot of very experienced players unless you choose and become an expert in a niche market yourself The cost of freighting single plants even by Post Office will be the same if not more than hundreds of plants .

There is also PBR (Plant Breeder Rights ) you will have to contend with paying royalties to the breeders who have developed the plants. A lot of paperwork involved there.

What would your returns policy be ?

Sorry to sound negative and they are not insurmountable problems but ones you should be aware of.

This is assuming you plan to send plants internationally - within Thailand some of these items may not apply .

Best of Luck.
