I have a Pajero Sport 3.2 diesel, had it for 2 and a half years...satnav,sensors, rearview reversing camera, nice car. Some like it, some don't...its really up to you to test drive them and see for yourself...the new shape looks nice, i think even the new pickup version looks sporty.

Didn't know they done a 3.2 .

The 3.2L Triton was discontinued in Jan 2011, when the 178PS 2.5L engine was released.

That's a bit below the belt Jase.

In any case, the vast majority of people, who don't read forums like this every day and aren't really into cars, are always going to think the 3 pointed star logo is better than the brand with 3 ellipses - regardless of their nationality wink.png

I've found little evidence after being here for 15 years that Thais know anything about anything or even care that they don't. For sure, there are a few exceptions who have made the effort to really understand something, but most blindly follow the herd and stick to their Apple/Toyota/[insert other herd here] tendencies.

It may well be the case that other countries are similarly ignorant, but as I haven't lived anywhere else for so long I wouldn't know. I do find it hard to believe that I could go into a specialist shop in the UK/Aus/US and quickly realise that from a few mins researching online that I already know more about their products than the sales staff (which is the norm here).

Definitely 3.2....4years. But still a nice car even now, I have a Toyota Altis as well, but prefer the high driving position of the Pajero, and it's quite quick, dunno what the 2.5 is like though.

My Mrs prefers the Pajero too, I don't know why people knock SUV's, because when you buy one, you KNOW it's not gonna drive like a Merc, it's just a matter of what you want from a car.

And by the way ... Thais don't count a 'C' class as a Merc. About the level of a Camry for street cred.[/quote

..............................................................................................................................................................

C'mon, you honestly think the average Thai thinks a C class has no cred??? You must be joking, it's a badge of honour to almost every Thai. Any car with a red number plate is 'cred' to Thais....I would have another one, for sure. Can you honestly say that Thais know the difference between the Merc models? I don't think so, I think you are looking at it from a farang point of view, not a Thai's

You must be a Beemer man, that's all I can say!

Same here - we are total SUV converts smile.png

Our first one was a 2010 Pajero Sport - since then we've added another 2 SUV's, and recently, replaced the PJS with an Everest.

You can get SUV's that drive superbly, but they are not cheap.

With the latest gen Everest / PJS / Fortuner, the gap between these pickup based SUV's and Euro brand monocoques at 3x-8x the price has narrowed significantly, when it comes to ride comfort, noise and tech - OK sure, they're still behind when it comes to performance, FE, outright handling, and some of the finishing materials used, but these aren't intended to be sports SUV's either, and you're never getting a Range Rover interior at these prices smile.png

Another thread turned into a slanging match...<deleted>

We knew this would happen anyway, but I cannot sit back and not respond to someone who because they don't like SUVs, they slag off the drivers to make it seem like they have an expert opinion.

In Sweden my home country where the roads are good I drive a normal low car as Volvo V70.

But here in Thailand where the roads and the traffic is what it is I would never want anything else then a SUV or Picup.

So much nicer when you actually sees what happens in front of you.

My Thai wife knows EVERYTHING. If you don't believe that, just ask her. She is convinced that Toyota is the absolute best. I asked her to think about that since the Four door 4X4 Toyota we had broke down so much. She says that was my fault because I bought it second hand. Ford is no good because it eats too much oil, Mazda is better but still not so good, Mitsubishi is too ugly with no resale value. Nissan loses too much money if you want to sell it besides being no good. Chevy is no good either even though it is quite similar to Isuzu which she doesn't believe. Isuzu is good because of resale value but not as good as Toyota. Tata, what is that? Her uncle is the truck "expert" who knows all even though he drives a 20 year old Toyota. She believes everything he tells her and nothing that I tell her. She does like the fuel economy from my new Isuzu 4X4 even though 4X4's eat too much oil.

Whats the price of top model Everest?

Sent from my SM-A800F using Tapatalk

Good to see you're getting out and looking at these in person - I assume you're also doing test drives?

The top-spec Everest Titanium+ is 1,599,000 - but the one closer to the PJS GT-Premium for features is the Titanium 3.2L at 1,459,000 Baht (no remote tailgate, no electric 3rd row seats, no moonroof, no ambient lighting, 18" wheels) - but it misses out on the PJS's and Titanium+'s daytime running lights, blind spot alert, front sensors and reversing camera - though the latter seems to be something dealers are throwing in for free.

Camry ... actually we had a long test drive in a Premium Hybrid. It was very impressive. As you say lots of good features. Also tried the Honda varient. Liked the Camry best as the ride was softer.

Still it doesn't have the streed cred of ...

We were both tempted but prefer the high up position of a PU/SUV and we went for the EVT Plus, just more suitable for touring etc

That Everest moon roof.

I got one in benz, and there u can press button and it covers it with another layer, dont think u can cover it in ford. Roof glass its tinted and u can open it as well.

What I mean its very hot in thailand and sun is always on ur head and air con works hard.

I rarely opens it as its simply too sunny/hot

The Everest moonroof has a shade :)

You can open the shade half way (front seats only) or all the way (front and back seats). The glass itself can only be opened in the front seats.

We have an 80% ceramic film our ours, and it's not hot at all - even in full sunlight with the shade open, it's still cool in the car / on your skin.

Does anyone really care what a bunch of uneducated, medieval peasants think about cars (or anything else from the contemporary world)?

We got saying that in this world there is more stupid people than smart ones, rule apply to everything.

Perhaps thats why u see most Fortuner sales :)

All dealers get inventory rationed on a quota basis - the June delivery quote is way more than what I've been seeing recently - indeed there are dealers still out there with December deliveries available. Shop around...

For example, I booked mine on the 29th of April, and it was ready for pickup on the 18th of August - all I did was shop around for dealers that hadn't yet sold out their rations. Another member here, JAS21 booked his well before me at the motor show in mid April, but still hasn't yet taken delivery - it's all about the dealership you buy from.

Try some of the upcountry dealers where the lower end models will sell better than the top spec due to economic reasons - that's what worked for me. Pattaya appears to be the opposite - it's the top spec that they've sold out their quota on, not the low spec.

BTW: The seats on the EV look filthy - who have they had driving that poor thing? :P

Different person will give you a different answer. When I first bought an SUV, my first option was for the Fortuna in 2010. The Isuzu Garage was opposite so I tried the MU-X, it was terrible in comparison and like riding an uncooked sausage. Down the road from both was the Mits garage so I thought why not? I ended up buying the 3.2 Pajero sport as it handled much better than both. Having owned a Toyota pickup and a Mits L200 animal in the UK I also presumed its off road capability would be better as the L200 was leaps ahead in standard form than my Toyota pickup. I was not disappointed with the Pajero off road taking it to Khao Krajom and many other places for some off road fun. Only thing I changed was the tires, replacing the standard with all-terrain. Sold it with 132,000km without a problem.
