Free Cremation?

Featured Replies

I recall hearing that if one is impoverished and next of kin do not wish to retrieve the corpse, a free cremation will be held. Does anyone know about this service in Pattaya? Thank you.

Note: I have sent for some information from a Bangkok funeral home on this subject. I will update when information is received.

How much does it costs when its not free ?

Are they robbers like in the west ?

25-30k is the norm for temple creations. I've never heard of any free cremation services...maybe these unclaimed bodies are just chucked into the sea as carb food.

Naklua Sawang Boriboon Foundation and Chinese Temple is likely what you refer to

They take donations there to fund coffins/shrouds/cremations of destitute/unclaimed corpses

Never here in upcountry! And guess never in Thailand.

It was last year that some homeless folk was found dead in an abandoned house/plot.

He was cremated at the local temple within hours (no bells / no whistles) and surely no one paid 25k.

Get the wife/girlfriend to enquire at the local Temple for basic rate without the trimmings .
