What was your Nickname when you were Young, and Why?

Featured Replies

Mine was Big Elvis, I was a big fan of his, and no, apart from my height and build, I did not look like him,

and did not have his quiff hairstyle, as I was too young then, although I did have the hairstyle of an older Elvis

when I got older.

So what was yours, and why?

To be honest mate, I dont really know. Some fella called me slick when I got lucky with a pretty girl and it stuck.

If I told you,I would have to kill you,to many People would know who I was lol

Wedge due to my haircut, done by my brother just before a School photograph

The Duke.

It started off as "Doc" because I was a prize winner at school, got quickly changed to "Duke" which stuck.

The Bear - a martial arts instructor once said I moved with all the grace of a "bear" at times (ha ha) and used my left hand to "club" opponents into defense when excited. That was in my very early days and still sticks!

That's very common.

Indeed I know about 50 people in the UK with the nickname Smithy for obvious reasons.

When i was young i thought it was "you little bastard" shouted in my mothers high pitched scream. It wasn't until i went to school and i was called other names that i realised it was not the only name i would be known by.

double post

I didn't have a nickname growing up but I routinely referred to as 'Little' as in 'Little' Jimmy Jones. When I graduated high school, there were a lot of guys 4 or 5 inches taller than me. When I went to my 20th high school reunion, I was 4 or 5 inches taller than many the same guys.

Theres a place in Yorkshire called 'Happy Valley', no one is happy, they are too busy shouting their mouths off,

and there are no valleys, just tenement buildings with five to a room.

You say your nickname was 'Big Elvis' -- doesn't sound like you were big and you sure weren't Elvis.

Mr Crab, why does it not sound like I am big? I am 6ft, and weigh 76 kgs, about the same height and weight as a young Elvis, and I did

say I didn't look like him, but I sure wish I could sing like him.
