Namplik
So, the only loophole available for 3-week-on/3-week-off oil workers is now entry visa exempt through airports. This is tough for Thailand to prevent as the requirements for air tickets and money is satisfied. Having a limit of 90 days per year (as at land borders) is not really practicable. All they could do, perhaps, is have a red stamp on exit like "no visa exempt entry allowed until ...." that airlines had to look for. Otherwise, the xenophobes are winning. As an oilworker this is a good visa for me Glad to hear it. You are lucky that your job is based in your home country and you are willing to spend time there a couple of times a year to get the METV. Yes I always stay a few days before and after my travelling and I also live near the Thai Embassy in my home country so no hassle for me to get a visa. I can apply before I go to work and pick it up when I come back.

No. It's referring to the list of countries here. This is an old list of countries that had to be resident to apply for a visa. It doesn't mean the METV will be available to any country not on that list. I think they've lumped the SETV and METV requirements together and not yet made it clear that residency is a requirement for the METV.

Don't gloat over it as you are dealing with peoples lives. I do not like people as well WORKING on a Tourist Visa but then I know a hell of a lot of people that do not work, are good people but will be forced into a lot of heartache over such things.

leighd7
Does This mean you can only get METV from your country of residence ? So if the option of single entries runs dry from adjacent countries. Must return home and apply in your own country for this visa. Also hear from a friend today that he will not be able to apply for a third education visa, and that 2 is the limit before forced to leave. Popular Post Maestro
You can scratch off Indonesia also. "From 13 November 2015 onwards, applicants with permanent residence in Indonesia can apply for the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) at the Royal Thai Embassy in Jakarta, the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate in Denpasar, the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate in Medan, and the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate in Surabaya." http://www.thaiembassy.org/jakarta/en/news/805/61987-Thailand-launches-the-Multiple-Entry-Tourist-Visa.html As I suspected. This is clearly something mandated by the MFA. The wording used by those Embassy's/Consulates who have announced the availability of the METV is strikingly similar. I figure all got the same text in Thai from the MFA, but had to make their own English translation.
