Yesterday my wife took her Ford Focus in for regular service. She came home just gushing about the new Ford Focus. Toyota was the only vehicle worth having for as long as I have known her. I told her that she always hated FORDS. She told me that she has changed her mind. I told her that there would never be another car in our garage. I'm sold on pickups. I just bought a new Isuzu V Cross so I'm sure there won't be another vehicle purchase in the foreseeable future. Maybe she remembers our lemon Toyota 4X4 and now knows her car has been reliable and has never had any problems. I just thought it strange that she loves the new Focus.

Luckily my missus realized Fords are usually head & shoulders above the competition quite a while ago. She's proud to not be a sheeple.

Everybody knows that Ford's are far superior to Toyota, Ford's reliability and the fantastic network of dealers who stock a full compliment of spares along with superb after sales service in Thailand make Ford the only choice.

On the other hand Toyota's have a terrible reputation for reliability, the Dealer network sucks and I've heard of them being stuck at the crap dealers for weeks waiting for spare parts.

Sensible people buy Fords, Japanese cars are rubbish. rolleyes.gif

You should consider yourself lucky she hasn't seen a Ferrari recently!

I can never understand why people buy a car for the 0.000000001% time that a brand may prove superior, as opposed to buying a car for the 99.9999999999% of time may prove superior.

Ford stock the same level of spares that Dullota do (none) and offer the same 24hour parts guarantee that all manufacturers probably do.

But more importantly, most Fords are so much more enjoyable to drive than a Dullota, which unless you're a car dealer is surely the factor with the most significance.

Why it's so emotional with cars. Always's it's "I have brand X, that's why brand Z is bad". I have driven lots of cars and I have also my favorites but I always understand that there are different opinions and choices.

I agree. I have no brand loyalties at all - i just buy whatever I believe is the best product at the time. I'm also not blinded by marketing enough to believe that any of the mainstream brands have vastly different business goals, production technology, or corporate service standards.

The only mainstream Japanese or American brand I haven't yet owned is Mazda.

Some people are afflicted with intense brand loyalty. They have never had anything else to compare. Look at the Apple fanboys. The best vehicle I ever owned in my entire life was a Nissan pickup. Did that mean that I would automatically buy another Nissan? I have absolutely no brand loyalty. Things change and what was bad before may very well be the best now. Years ago the Bangkok company I worked for bought me a new Isuzu. My friend worked for the same company and they gave him a Toyota. The Toyota was a much better truck. I hated that Isuzu but my new truck is an Isuzu. With the advanced technology today, I don't think there is a bad brand.
