zaphod reborn
Japan? LOL, it's ok, obviously British tourists are oblivious to "no go" countries, as seen by how many get trapped or killed in Libya or Egypt. Why do they need to travel to these countries to get killed by jihadist Muslims? Plenty of jihadist Muslims in their own country.

stoneyboy
Japan? That is due to the incident at the Fukushima power plant and is highly credible information, however you perceive it the information given by the FCO is indispensable and a credit to the British government. That much is backed up by the recent incident in Egypt whereby the British government were first to act by halting all flights to Sharm El Sheikh. People were quick to jump all over that until it became knowledge that the aircraft was probably downed by a bomb on board. asiabill
I take it that this is good news for the English government. They have dispatched armed thugs all over the place, killing and raping men women and children for no apparent reason apart from whipping up anti-British hatred. The English government is owned by the Americans and they have arms sales to consider. Atta boy Davie.
midasthailand
Haha, Thailand is on the list as being partially dangerous too, I guess because of the Islamist separatist movement down south. I am off to Kazakhstan for work next week, glad that isn't on the list!

chiang mai
That list of partially dangerous countries is quite amazing. To be honest, if people can't work out for themselves where is safe and where is not they shouldn't be allowed passports in the first place. And FWIW, I'd rate the area where I live north of Chiang Mai as far safer than any city in the UK.

ddavidovsky
Japan is 'partly dangerous' because of Fukushima... Thailand is 'partly dangerous' because of the deep south... Malaysia is 'partly dangerous' because of Sipadan... India is 'partly dangerous' because of Kashmir... And S. Africa is perfectly safe? And Morocco? And Gambia? It's a useless classification. Most countries have danger spots and no-go zones.

midas
Fukushima getting worse not better Fukushima nuclear reactor radiation at highest level since 2011 meltdown Quote The facility’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), said atmospheric readings as high as 530 sieverts an hour had been recorded inside the containment vessel of reactor No 2, one of three reactors that experienced a meltdown when the plant was crippled by a huge tsunami that struck the north-east coast of Japan in March 2011. A single dose of one sievert is enough to cause radiation sickness and nausea; 5 sieverts would kill half those exposed to it within a month, and a single dose of 10 sieverts would prove fatal within weeks https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/feb/03/fukushima-daiichi-radiation-levels-highest-since-2011-meltdown
