Danger: This map shows the 18 most dangerous countries the Foreign Office says Brits should avoid travelling to, as well countries where parts should not be visited

This new map reveals the 18 most dangerous countries that British travellers are being warned not to visit by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

The diagram shows six of the countries are in the Middle East, including Libya, Syria and Iraq, as well as 45 nations deemed partly high-risk due to unrest in certain regions.

One of these is the north Sinai in Egypt, where the Russian commercial plane crashed 23 minutes after taking off from Brit holiday favourite Sharm el-Sheikh last week.

Japan?

LOL, it's ok, obviously British tourists are oblivious to "no go" countries, as seen by how many get trapped or killed in Libya or Egypt. Why do they need to travel to these countries to get killed by jihadist Muslims? Plenty of jihadist Muslims in their own country.

Japan?

Probably they got confused Japan as being part of Sakhalin island.. :D

Malaysia but not Indonesia?

Japan?

That is due to the incident at the Fukushima power plant and is highly credible information, however you perceive it the information given by the FCO is indispensable and a credit to the British government.

That much is backed up by the recent incident in Egypt whereby the British government were first to act by halting all flights to Sharm El Sheikh.

People were quick to jump all over that until it became knowledge that the aircraft was probably downed by a bomb on board.

Well, it is a good thing the UK isn't on the list.

Must be getting old....had forgotten about Fukishima. Just had a look at the FO website and it even mentions be wary of the typhoon season so have to agree with you about the value of the info.

No that’s because the Japanese government did such a fabulous job of suppressing the truth including threatening journalists with prison for reporting the facts.bah.gif

Why leave the safety of the British Isles for any reason?

It's a jungle out there.

I am due to fly to New Zealand next Tuesday.

It must be so dangerous, note they've removed it from the map completely, for safety reasons i guess.

an eerie, drone's-eye-view of the radioactive wasteland that is Fukushima, courtesy of the following video clip showcasing the toxic area located just 200 miles away from the venue of the 2020 summer Olympics.

I take it that this is good news for the English government. They have dispatched armed thugs all over the place, killing and raping men women and children for no apparent reason apart from whipping up anti-British hatred. The English government is owned by the Americans and they have arms sales to consider. Atta boy Davie.

Haha, Thailand is on the list as being partially dangerous too, I guess because of the Islamist separatist movement down south.

I am off to Kazakhstan for work next week, glad that isn't on the list!

What no Australia, we have lots of sharks and crocodiles, they love fat western men!!!! Ohhh and natives with boomerangs.

A very stupid and ignorant comment!

That list of partially dangerous countries is quite amazing. To be honest, if people can't work out for themselves where is safe and where is not they shouldn't be allowed passports in the first place. And FWIW, I'd rate the area where I live north of Chiang Mai as far safer than any city in the UK.

Good to see that Laos isn't on the list.

Japan is 'partly dangerous' because of Fukushima...

Thailand is 'partly dangerous' because of the deep south...

Malaysia is 'partly dangerous' because of Sipadan...

India is 'partly dangerous' because of Kashmir...

And S. Africa is perfectly safe? And Morocco? And Gambia?

It's a useless classification. Most countries have danger spots and no-go zones.

I would go to Iraq to work. Syria and Libya no. Papua New Guinea has been one of the most dangerous places on earth but I enjoyed it and I was there for 1 year

Japan?

"parts" should not be visited - presumably Fukushima

Indonesia would be up there on my list their security forces have killed 100s of thousands in west Papua and what with the raging forest fires and becoming a more radial Muslim country I won't be going there anytime soon either

I doubt it lists some countries because few Brits actually visit some countries.

Fukushima nuclear reactor radiation at highest level since 2011 meltdown

Quote

The facility’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), said atmospheric readings as high as 530 sieverts an hour had been recorded inside the containment vessel of reactor No 2, one of three reactors that experienced a meltdown when the plant was crippled by a huge tsunami that struck the north-east coast of Japan in March 2011.

A single dose of one sievert is enough to cause radiation sickness and nausea; 5 sieverts would kill half those exposed to it within a month, and a single dose of 10 sieverts would prove fatal within weeks

Nuclear meltdown at Fukushima destroying containment vessel and threatens the entire country of Japan and the northern hemisphere.  Many countries have banned fruit & fish from Japan but they say Thailand still imports it.

Wish I'd read this topic earlier !!

I'm in Japan now....

Wondered why I could see my sashimi in the dark :)
