Worms in a shower

Featured Replies

So I have worms in my shower.

At first I thought they were coming up out of the drain, but no, they come out of the shower head.

I notice them about 30% of the time I shower. Usually just 1 or 2 each time. Range from 1cm to 3cm in lenght and very much alive.

Happens in showers in both bathrooms. 1 shower has a hot water system and 1 does not. I have not noticed them at any other area in the house.

I'm connected to govt water supply in Chiangmai. I don't have tank that stores water.

Anyone heard of this before or have an idea what I can do?

The wife is totally freaked and wont wash her hair at home.

Time to install a tank and filtration system. And flush your water supply system. Worms are probably being pumped and piped directly from the local reservoir into your home.

+1. Time to create your own sanitized water supply.

Good idea, but its a rented house and we wont be here longer than 6 months.

Then move out and find another place, but first complain to the landlord.

If you stay, the salon, where your wife washes her hair, gets rich wink.png

Yeh she wants to move. But I was hoping a relatively simple solution may exist.

Time to spend 20 baht........... tape/tie a 20 baht tea strainer to the shower head, well near me the 20 baht shop has 2 tea strainers or a much bigger one, depends on the size of your shower head..

on the other hand just think what the worms feed on, at least your not getting that all over your body.

Question, are those worms still alive ?

Edit: The reason why I ask is, if they are still alive that could mean that a pipe near your house is broken and they have found away to get in.

Ps: Just guessing here wai.gif

Yes they are alive. I would of thought a broken pipe would equal high water bills. Our monthly water bill is less than 200 baht.

Thats not a bad short term solution. Since we only have 4 months left on the lease I will look for something like that.

You are right, sorry No idea but very disturbing,

You can add that to the list of the things to check when looking at a house to rent. "See of No Worms come out of the showerhead" biggrin.png

Very disturbing. Since they are alive I assume they are getting into water supply locally.

If they get in before my house then I guess I can't really do anything except add something to the shower head like a tea strainer as another poster suggested.

if they are black and shiney, they are call "blind snakes"

there is a break in the water pipe some were up line

before you turn on the shower put a coffee filter on the shower head

or install a filter on the water line comeing into the house

you didn't say if they come out of any other taps

forgot to say that they are harmless

I would put a sample of that water under a microscope. My guess is that you are showering yourself with a cocktail of bacteria and other parasites, not all of which are harmless. I'd be out of that disgusting place asap.

Yeh that's every water supply in Thailand....
