Car Rental For 1 Month Jan/feb'07

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am scheduled to spend apx 30 days in Phuket researching real estate mkt, checking out schools etc as am planning to relocate to Phuket mid next yr.

Surely will need to rent a car of some sort.

Any advise or recommendation on where it is the best /most economic/ to rent a car for longer period. I know that Avis or Hertz would be the easiest approach but rather pricy one.

Maybe it is better to rent one in BKK and drive south ??

Welcome your comments and/or suggestions.

rgrds,

Voytek

Opposite McDonalds/beach road there's quite a good rental service, used them many times.

Good cars, good prices and reliable.

If u want I can PM you their mobile number.

Budget cars from phuket airport, though the net agents 5 seat pickup 30,000 baht ish 30 days with the insurance and breakdown cover you may need. :o

Across the road from the airport "exit gate" there is a few car rental places. Toyota Vios 14,000 per month, very cheap on fuel as well. The large Thai guy that owns/runs the business is a great guy also. He guarantees the lowest price cars. I rented a Vios (14k per month) for the wife, before buying her one and I also rented a Toyota Fortuna (30k per month) before I decided not to buy one.

I forget the name of the Rental company, but as you go into the office, there is a longish desk on the left side, a lady behind the counter and a big Thai giy around 45 hovering around. A really nice guy. You will know your in the right place, when they bring out a can of Pepsi.

Good Luck.

pretty much any of the non hertz / avis rental places.

the jazz seems to be the car of choice for them to buy and then rent, probably as they are super reliable and quite nice.

there are three places all near me ( southern end of island) that rent them at the 15k to 18k price per month and also the guy on the beach road in patong pretty much opposite mcdonalds.

Also in Karon. As soon as you are not renting from hertz etc this seems to be pretty much the standard price

Do you think he would give discounted rate for 6 month rental. Was kinda hoping for around 10,000-11,000 per month paid up front for 6 months.

Also do you know about his insurance or is it ex insurance? If you have his contact details that would be great.

Cheers.

Which airport are you talking about? I want to rent a car in bangkok, where could I get a similarly priced one?

He might do a better deal, you can ask. I think less than $400 USD a month for a car less than two years old is a bargain, but..............

You could get a Suzuki Jeep for about that :o
