In Thailand car cams are vital for a foreigner. I have 2, one for the front and one for the back and side. Looks too much? Weeks after getting the first one, I had a small accident. The insurance guy saw the camera and just accepted my version of the events. The other guy didn't said a word. Later, on a road block, the police officer comes strong...but saw the camera... and I was treated like a King.

I got the SW1...in Lazada. Cheap and wonderful toy for about 1000THB.

Thanks for this. I need to get one. Can the SW1 be bought in department stores?

(Edit: do you have a link for it?)

Car Cam recorder รุ่น T650 HD DVR (Black) 850 THB in Lazada. I do not believe that can found for same price in any store, and in Lazada pay at delivery.

Get also a 18GB mini SD car type 10......for about 200THB......and 10% discount and free delivery buying over 1000THB

This one is an example...Many similars in Lazada from different provider. Keep shopping in Lazada until found one with warranty.......and sure that has up to 12 MP resolution, even paying a little more. Some comes with free SD card too, and some also with the HVD cable to connect with TV.

Unobtrusive would be nice.. My friends are clumpy things and fall off.[emoji23]

Yep - I've never had a suction-mounted-anything that actually stayed stuck to the windscreen. I have had a few try their best to destroy tint film though...

If you buy an action cam, or one of the name brand (e.g. Transcend) dash cams, you can get a permanent adhesive mount for them, which doesn't fall off, and is much less bulky too, allowing the cam to be placed higher up and/or further forward on the windscreen.

Some brands (e.g. Ford) now offer dash cams as genuine accessories - the Ford ones at least are much more discreet that anything aftermarket.. That said, any car that has modern safety features like lane departure warning already has a front facing camera - why can't they just add a micro SD slot and let us use the "dash cam" that's already in the car??!?

Do you have a link to the accessories page on the Everest (or better still the Ranger)? Ford's new website is bloody awful and I struggle to find anything on it nowadays.

I guess English speaking people don't want accessories...

I feel much better having a camera. I too bought mine from Lazada. It is a 1080 with a memory card included. Morestech G1W NT 96650. It cost about 1,900 baht and is more than 9 months old. It comes on when the track starts and goes off when the truck stops. It gets to the end on the memory card capacity and starts over rewriting the old files. For less than 2,000 baht the video is surprisingly good. You never know when you will need evidence in case of an accident.

I have a suction mounted camera. Stays on no problem.

Those who are having difficulty, you do know you are supposed to pull the lever to create the suction, right?

As for its worth, bought it, had a prang a week later. It proved I was at fault. Waste of money.

I originally had the dash cam in the car. I removed it and put it in the truck. I had a really difficult time taking the suction cup off the car windshield. It has never fallen off and stays on too well to easily take off. The car gets driven very little but I think I'll buy another for the car. Great insurance.

Good to hear the cam provided proof who the at fault party was.

They all do that and you can get the G1W for cheaper.

I bought it from a guy who bought two of them in Europe. He is using one and selling the other because he has only one vehicle. The second one has never been used. You have the option of suction cups or an adhesive pad. I'll use the suction cups first and if I am happy with the placement and performance, I'll change to the adhesive.
