Driver licence issue - recently expired DL from home country

Featured Replies

Anyone know what problems I will face trying to obtain a Thai DL with a USA DL that expired 2 - 3 week before?

If I need to take the driving test, what is needed? E.g., need to bring a car (with a driver in case of failure?)? And what is tested, please?

Thank you.

Don't know about BKK but in Pattaya I am pretty sure you need to furnish your own car. I wouldn't worry about bringing a driver in case you fail.

They may not make you take the driving test at all. I would just go (without a car) and see what happens. It is very likely up to the person at the counter to make the decision so just be polite and don't bring up the expired part is my suggestion.
