katnip
Sorry for the insipid topic, but I really don't know . When posting a parcel here, is it OK to wrap it yourself or must one buy a bag or box from the PO ?(Some countries insist on the latter.) If posting overseas, will the PO need to see the contents before the parcel is sealed ?
johng
Assuming by "here" you mean Thailand. I've had no trouble using my own wrapping paper, as long as it's wrapped well they don't seem to mind. PO has never asked to see the contents.

naka
Courier like DHL will ask to see. Post Office will not. Naka.
Khun Yak
I always used PO and always had to declare the content and the value (don't write something like "buddhaiamge" ect. and you won't have a problem). Write whatever you think is sufficiant But they won't ask you to open it. Never had any problems sending parcels from LOS but receiving one was once a complete mess - received a christmas parcel in march for no reason (no storage charge to be paid either). qualtrough
Some post offices insist you tie up the parcels with string. The boxes and padded envelopes offered by the PO are very good value, cheaper than the stuff offered in stores. They even come with tape and string.
