Hi All,

Would appreciate and indication of the taxi cost from Chiang Mai airport to hotel in Loy Kroh rd at the night market end. Will be arriving 28 Dec high season in the afternoon, one person one taxi.

Many thanks.

It's a fixed rate of around 150 baht give or take 20 baht. Don't worry about it. Just go to the taxi stand inside the airport. Cheap enough and painless.

The night market is pretty well on the middle of Loi Kroh.

If you are staying at the Duangtawan or anywhere near, you'll be in your hotel in 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Maybe even quicker.

The taxi stand will display the fixed rate.

Taxi stand at the airport??? Doubtful. Taxi Sales Offices IN the airport will sort you out. 200 baht is my guess.

Looks like a taxi stand to me. They don't necessarily have to be outside. And all the signs I've seen show 120 Baht though those photos may be out of date.

It is more like 180, now. It was 120 in 2004. Walk 800 meters to the intersection of Maejo and 108 and jump on a yellow songtaew...will take you to the south side of the moat for 10 thb. It's been about perfect weather for walking, lately. A red songtaew, dropping people off, will take you for 100 thb. from the airport, and if you flag one down from the road 60-80......I paid 200 to CMU in May, but I had 50 KG of stuff, and it was after midnight. If I'm coming back from a few days in BKK, I will get home for 30 thb.

The current rate for a taxi from CNX to anywhere in "central" Chiang Mai, including the night market area is 160 baht. There is more than one taxi "office" in the airport. Some will try to charge you more depending on time of day and perceived traffic delays but the correct rate is 160 baht.

How's this for an accurate answer?

The rate you pay is the one they ask for!

This is not Disneyland, Taiwan, Abu Dhabi,

nor is it a "developed world" country!

For two years I flew weekly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. I never once had to negotiate a fair in Chiang Mai. It's clearly posted at the taxi kiosk and it's that simple.

last time I went native,i flagged a red bus down,at the airport, told driver nimman okay jump in by the time we had reached chiang mai gate,i had enough jumped off crossed the road, and got another red cab BACK,to nimman, moral of the story, dont get in a red cab with other people in it.they have preference first.but of course you want a 20bht sightseeing tour of cnx okay.
