BANGKOK: -- The Royal Thai Armed Forces yesterday held the Trooping the Colour march to honour His Majesty the King on his 88th birthday anniversary.

The ritual ceremony was presided over by Thai Armed Forces Commander General Sommai Kaotira.

The march was performed by the Royal Guards at Sanam Luang.

Attended the ceremony included the permanent secretary to the Ministry of Defense, General Preecha Chan-o-cha and other high ranking army officials.

The march demonstrated the allegiance and appreciation of the armed forces to His Majesty the King for his contributions to the Thai public and the Royal Thai Armed Forces.

During the colourful march, the military band also played His Majesty’s songs and created spectacular formations.

More than 2,000 soldiers from twelve royal guard units and the Cavalry Regiment joined in the march from the Territorial Defense Command to Sanam Luang.

At the end of the march, the supreme commander led the armed forces personnel to swear in the pledge of allegiance to the king in front of his image.
