I quite recently moved to PAYG AIS GSM, without problem. However, I just started receiving the following messages from them...

Please be noted that you account will be suspended on 10/10/2006. Please recharge your account soon.

I still receive the messages when I top up with 50 bahts worth of credit, although the date changes by a couple of days or so.

What's it all about then? Thanks.

is it not obvious ??

When you pout credit in your phone it increases the time that the number is valid for ?? You buy credit for outgoing call time and also for keeping your number.

Otherwise you could just get a cheap sim and have an incoming line forever.. wheres thier biz sense in giving you that.

The more credit you buy (amount) the longer it gives you) you can also play around with the special packages in *777 for making credit last longer (but cost mer per min) or cost less per min for shorter time.. And friends and family type options)..

Put 500 or 1000 baht credits in the phone.. You get Much more applied than the tiny 50 baht ones so that it works out getting more time for same money.

A friend of mine doesn't use his phone very much and had problems with the time expiring. He stopped at, I think, a Telewhiz (sp?) phone shop and now pays 1,500 baht once a year. You can most likely get the same plan from other phone shops.

He must have gotten ripped off. I went to the same shop and got it for only 500 baht a year. A friend claimed he only paid 100 baht for a year from a different shop.

You can call 1175, (from your phone), press 2 for an English-speaking CSR. They offer great customer service, IME, and should be able to address your questions. To me, this sounds more like a zero balance issue rather than an expiration issue? You can check both, balance and expiration date, by entering *121# SEND, and you will receive a message back.

Just an update Today I topup-ed my 1-2-call mobile phone with a 1500 baht payment but only recieved 7 1/2 months added to my expire date. So it is no longer one year for 1500 baht. Also I topup my wife's phone today with 800 baht and her expire date only added 4 months. Maybe I will move to true mobile mobile phone service since you can exchange some of your balance to extend the expire date. I rarely use my phone the date is more important to me.

I stopped in to a Telewizzzz today. Here's an update:

The 1 year extension with purchase of 1500 baht promotion is OVER.

Current promotion is: top up with 800 baht and you get 100 day extension of time

top up with 1500 baht and you get 200 day extension of time

This is as of 2 p.m., 25 Dec 07

You can exchange credit for time. Look in the last month for a post on this. The higher value cards do not give proportionally more time rtaher they give less !

The only Thing I found close to this was *777. SO I can not find the post you referenced, could you direct me, I would be interested.
