Fire at Shock 39 nightclub



BANGKOK: -- A brief fire broke out last night at "Shock 39" nightclub on Soi Phetburi 39 off Phetburi road, but was put out 15 minutes after fire engines arrived.

The venue was said to be popular among foreign guests as it was said to remain open into the early hours of the next day.

Makkasan police said the fire started at about 9 pm on the second floor room of the three-storey commercial building housing the nightclub.

The room was rented by Somdee Jirarote, a car driver of the place. But he was not in at the time of the fire.

His colleague Bualien Sangsawaeng spotted the flame and rushed to control it with a fire extinguisher. However he could not put it out and later alerted fire fighters.

Firemen arrived and put it under control 15 minutes later.

Police said it was believed the fire was started from electrical appliance which he forgot to switch off after leaving his room for dining.

The nightclub did not open yet but is still under renovation.

it all sounds a bit odd the resident goes out leaving on an appliance which creates a fire a friend spots the fire which he tries to put out he calls the fire department who put out the fire in 15 minutes no damage was caused to the nightclub which was undergoing renovation?

I was in a TV commercial shoot inside "Shock 39" a few months ago. Seemed to be mostly Russian and Eastern Euro crowd, lots of dealers prowling around.
