Customers are already voting with their wallets: Thai Airways is too expensive!

I often hear this comment and it simply not true, at least LHR-BKK-LHR, they are the cheapest and use a newish Airbus A330 and a newish Airbus A380 daily!

My friend booked a flight for Songkran next year, paid GBP490 return inc all taxes to Chiang Mai from London....cheapest by a country mile!

Just did a random flight in Feb 2016.....cheapest....Thai!

Sorry but the cheapest was with one stop, and therefore not Thai according to your own screenshot.

Here one for Munich for dates in Feb

Direct with Thai over 290 Euros more expensive than Etihad!!!

My comment clearly stated LHR-CNX-LHR......this poster is banging on about LHR-GOD KNOWS WHERE-BKK-LHR....sorry to be pedantic but READ the post first!

Just always seems there is always someone on here who "knows it all", "been here this long" or "I know better".....Jesus!

I now know why I rarely post on here anymore, even though I have been here 8 years! Yes! 8 years! I know I am a novice and know nothing! Lol

If you book a connecting flight all the way through from CNX to LHR on Thai, you also get a cheaper price than booking tickets separately.

Looking at booking next year one way ticket to Bangkok on 29th September.

Thai = 473 pounds

Eva =381 pounds.

Eva for me seems to be a better service also, altho I have always been happy enough with the Thai service.

Of course.

But when you try and give a bit of useful and (hopefully) helpful advice....you get blown out with Ethiad and all sorts...that "this is cheaper and that is cheaper", when in reality, in my example (may have changed now) but Thai was in fact, cheaper and better (in view of) newer planes than...for example BA!

I could probably fly by some dodgy Chinese outfit to Europe or take a 3 hour stop off in Abu Dabbi Dabbu, but that is irrelevant!

Just seems that posters on here are all to quick to "slate" genuine posters with some good advice.

To be honest this site has offered some great advice over the years (and still does) sometimes.....but sooooo much f'ing negativity sometimes!

Yet again...I was quoting LHR-CNX-LHR......that is not the same as LHR-BKK-LHR!

What is the cost with Eva and Bangkok Air (their sharing flight partner) for LHR-CNX-LHR?

Just saying! :-)

Ah sorry got it now, when you mentioned this .......................

""""I often hear this comment and it simply not true, at least LHR-BKK-LHR, they are the cheapest and use a newish Airbus A330 and a newish Airbus A380 daily!"""

You wasn't referring to that ? Easy mistake to make.

BTY Eva don't fly to CNX so its hard to compare the two.

Neither does Thai, you need a connecting flight with whichever airline you choose.

Right, so a pretty silly question to ask then ? Which airline is the cheapest LHR-CNX-LHR, when neither do.

Just find out the price of Thai + Thai connecting to CNX

Just find out the price of EVA + a connecting flight of your choice to CNX

Then you will have your answer

Might just as well work out the cheapest to Bangkok being as the next flight is totally different.

Better factor in your luggage costs for the additional weight you are allowed internationally versus the CNX-BKK flight....

The main problem I found with Thai, and this was in biz class, was the poor quality of the food and tiny wine glass

Oh and the old 1980's style seat which was a joke

Poor IFE system as well....short of price there is nothing else to recommend Thai for me and NEVER when I have searched were they the cheapest

Thai Airways 30kg

Sign up with Bangkok Airways frequent flyer program immediately 30kgs

Not a problem

Yep → use the 30k on BKK/CNX when needed.....

Could be wrong on this but believe I have taken some US flights to BKK with 60k and some with 80k available plus carry ons → basically all you could manage and still make it look light......

I sometimes think posts replies are genuine in their effort to help, but sometimes get misinterpreted.

As for your comments in reference to Thai airways I think "value for money" is dependent on class of travel. Thai Airways business class product is overpriced and under serviced when compared to most mid eastern airlines. In the last 5 years I have flown in business class more times than I can count, for two years it was solely with Thai Airways because I thought they were a value for money airline. About 2 years ago I stopped flying with them as their product quality slipped to the point where I felt that I was just being ripped off.

So when you get your cheap ticket, take the time to assess what value you gain from the ticket.
