PHUKET: -- A raid by no less than 12 police officers at a home in Patong yesterday afternoon (Dec 21) resulted in the arrest of one man with an illegal homemade handgun.

Acting on a tip-off from undercover officers, said police, officers raided the home in Phrabaramee 8 Rd at 4:30pm and arrested local resident, Somchai Wichardee, 47.

Police found an illegal homemade handgun (“Thai Pradit”) and six shotgun cartridges, which the gun had been configured to fire.

Somchai was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
