No brains. How do you make money when you turn down fares? The mind boggles!

The mindset and economics are different here. Thais are brought up not to be ambitious (not part of the middle way). So most workers, taxi drivers included, are only looking to make a few hundred baht a day, then they can go home to their families and relax. They can either earn that few hundred baht by accepting every job that comes up and then go home really early or you can cherry pick a few customers who are prepared to overpay, do 4 or 5 jobs and then go home. It all adds up to the same amount of cash.

Had great difficulty getting a taxi around here a month or so back around 1am. 3 or 4 just didn't want to go at all, not even suggesting no meter or a OTT fare. Couple wanted 500B to go a 80B journey.
