Interesting article in today's Telegraph and not quite the same information we get from the tourist board here, who I believe claim that numbers are continually up year on year. This is 2014btw.

A decline of 7% is reported here for Bkk.

Who to believe?

"London has grown its tourist count to become the second most visited city in the world, overtaking Bangkok and Singapore.

However, the British capital could not catch up with Hong Kong, which is the world's most popular city destination for the sixth consecutive year, according to Euromonitor International.

Almost 17.4m people visited London in 2014, a 3.6pc increase on the year before, while the number of tourists to Hong Kong jumped 8.2pc to 27.8m.

Singapore, Bangkok and Paris rounded out the top five despite receiving fewer travellers than in 2013, marking declines of 0.4pc, 7pc and 1.9pc respectively."

Not everyone who goes to Thailand goes to Bangkok.

--------------------------------------

And not everyone who enters Thailand on a "tourist" visa is a "tourist".

Of course, that is probably true about the U.K. also.

"Not everyone who goes to Thailand goes to Bangkok."

Fair point, but it sill represents a significant drop and could possibly be applied nationally to a greater or lesser extent.

I was just surprised by the figures and surely reports have said passengers into Swampy have risen year upon year.
