About the govts plans to get wealthy tourists to come here or was that last years failed plan?

Ive been away for a week and flew in and out First class Emirates, Premium lane fast track thru immigration etc arrived at midnight last night , handed over passport to surly faced immigration woman, she thrust it back at me and shoved a pen under her glass screen and grunted about "visa" information.

I was tired and had put the wrong visa number down , she had all the info in my passport , she was giving me a really bad look, I said sorry I havent got my glasses with me they were in my carry on bag which was full of stuff....................she got bored and filled it in herself and then let me through but if looks could kill.

There were only 2 people going thru fastrack at the time and I was the second one so no queue at all.....................I just sat there thinking "wow" this is your "welcome to Thailand" such a huge difference to where id just come from.

So you present yourself at the witching hour as "Premium" to immigration and present incorrectly filled out arrival card and require the immigration peons correct your mistake? Somehow can understand there might not be a smile. Did you have a smile?

I kinda agree, you were a bozo not getting it right, they must get fed up with falang who can't fill in a simple form. But i guess she didn't need to be angry, maybe it was you? i always find them ok.

Oh yes I got one digit wrong and admit it BUT if looks could kill.

There was no queue and I was holding up no one, I generally dont walk round smiling but then I dont walk round scowling either, she had little work to do, could understand it if there were 1000 people behind me.

To my left were 4 Chinese hadnt even filled in the forms at all and the other officer was going thru it with them with no surly face at all and most likely as there was no one else there she had the time to do it, the point being she didnt need the "attitude" she'd clearly got in my opinion.

Maybe she was having a bad day but give the Op some credit for telling it as it was.

There are other threads around at this time mentioning the bad attitude of Thai people who are there to "serve" the community whether ExPats, Chinese tourist or people who may be dyslexic.

Having said that the worst immigration control I ever experienced was in the States, totally belligerent and ignorant.

Like may in the world they forget what they are there for

So next time don't use the fast track, problem solved.

Fast track immis behind glasses in bkk.

I nearly had the same yesterday but my immi card was correct. What a difference immis in kul and then here again in hkt. The hkt immi was so fed up that he had to stop playing with his mobile and doing his job. Sure no good impression on normal holiday makers.

From which country with friendly immis did you fly in?

Worst immigration i have ever experience was in the US as well. Belligerent and ignorant were the same words i would have used. I will not transit through the US again. That loses business for the US airlines.

So you turned up with your form filled out incorrectly, and the immigration officer helped you out by correcting it for you and then let you into the country?

Sounds like a good thing to me. And yet you're complaining because you didn't like the look on her face?

Do you honestly think the Immigration officer gives a rat's arse whether you fly first class?

According to TAT they want "high end" tourists, the first impression you get entering Thailand is in my opinion pretty darn important, fasttrack earns them extra money, in Thailand money rules as anywhere really, sad but true

Have to agree, ive avoided ever since my connection at Miami, super slow immigration, no urgency not enough staff although loads standing about doing nothing.

YES, helped me out is "stretching" it a bit and she wasnt what you'd call "overworked"

There was no need for the look she was giving out at all but as usual your "love" of Thailand and its people blinds you.

Immigration officials the world over tend towards the serious demeanour. I wouldn't have thought twice about it. I certainly wouldn't have got worked up enough to post a complaining thread about the look on someone's face.

It's a fast track service. You got through quickly. If they advertised it as 'smile track', you might have cause to complain.

If they had to correct / complete everyone's TM card it wouldn't be a fast track anymore

If an A380 then that is easily possible to hold that many and more passengers.

Emirates A380 - 3 class - 489 Ultra Long Range & 517 Long Range

She was probably thinking 'First Class.. ......'.

maybe, but also she wouldnt be thinking I bet this guy had to slave his nuts off for 30 years to get to first class
