CHAIYAPHUM:-- A man has confessed to the murder of a school teacher in Chaiyaphum.

The victim, identified as Natthanan Jangcharoen, 41, was found in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the dormitory where she stayed in central Chaiyaphum. Her throat had been slashed.

Police initially suspected the victim's ex-husband of carrying out the attack after a neighbour told officers she heard Natthanan arguing with a man just after midnight on Tuesday.

When the neighbour went to investigate the commotion she said she found the victim’s body lying in the hallway outside.

However, after further questioning, the neighbour later admitted that it was in fact her boyfriend who was responsible for the murder.

Police later found the Ponlayut Sornchadet, 25, who allegedly told officers that after breaking into the victim’s room and whilst high on yaba he intended to rape and rob the woman.

However, Natthanan resisted and tried to fight back, which is when he tied her up and robbed her of a mobile phone.

Unaware that Ponlayut was carrying out the attack, Ponlayut’s girlfriend who was in the room next door, came to investigate the noise.

In order to keep Natthanan quiet, Ponlayut slit her throat and escaped out of the window.

Ponlayut’s girlfriend then found the body of the victim. He later confessed to his girlfriend via text message that he was responsible for the murder.

Ponlayut has been charged with murder and is in police custody awaiting legal action.

Yaba, rife in the North East.

Need to catch the 'Mr Bigs' to make any progress in trying to eradicate it.

Maybe their connections make this an impossibility ?

My point exactly.

Seems to be impossible everywhere in the world. The U.S. spends billions of dollars every year to catch dealers (and thousands of customers) and there always seem to be plenty more where those came from. The only country I know of which has made any headway against the problem is Portugal, which decriminalized all drugs several years ago. Unfortunately most of my news comes by way of America, so of course I can't find out much about how well the program is working. From various hints that slip through, I gather that it is working very well indeed, which is not something the authorities want people to know.

Prohibition never has & never will work, end of story.

This story would have had a happy ending if only the perpetrator had been using legalized yaba.

Unfortunately, the law can take down 100 or a 1000 "Mr. Bigs' and it

wouldn't make a dam* bit of difference because there's always gonna'

be another waiting to take over right around the next corner. As long

as there are people who want drugs there will be people there to

accommodate them. Probably needs to be a different tact to stem the

tide and I wouldn't know what that would be. I just know what's being

done and has been done since Nixon began the "War on Drugs" just

ain't working.
