Dry air in BKK

Featured Replies

My hygrometer tells it's 29% humidity and 25 celcius in the livingroom right now...I never thought it was possible in BKK.

Has it ever been as dry like this?

It was pretty cold a couple of weeks ago as well.

It's the same down here in Hua Hin. The wind came on strong yesterday and the temperature dropped. It's still the same.

I did read something a few days ago predicting this.

Edit: Humidity was much lower earlier here as well.

Although the official humidity is reported in the 40-50% range here in Bangkok it is much drier than normal - last two days have had static electric charge from clothing (which is very unusual here). Currently 17c which it at record low range.

I know I used to walk a mile to jr, high at -30c in New Hampshire; but this +17c is below what I want as a low these days.

Warm air can contain much more water then cold air.

There must have been a very cold wind blowing over Thailand to BKK which even couldn't get humid while travelling over the land. So it must be very very dry upcountry i guess.

If this air came from sea it would have been warmer and more humid.

My thermo/hygrometre is from Rhytm-brand Japan so i guess it's a good one. I only have it for some weeks though but didn't expect to see this low reading.
