MaeJoMTB
However, the guy does seem more than a bit dim to have bragged about it on public websites. I think you will find, homeland security (or the NSA) have been reading private emails.

Shadychris
Arrested without any charge seems a bit suspect. Do Americans no longer have any rights? Is evidence no longer required? Is a complainant not required? I could claim to be God ....... but that doesn't make it true! (or former SAS/Special Forces who shot hundreds of Iraqi insurgents) Boasting in emails or online is not a crime, not matter how distasteful the claims. You don't seem to be very clued up on Western legal procedures. It is quite in order to be arrested on 'suspicion' of having committed an offence. The arrestee may then be detained for specified periods of time for questioning to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to bring a charge. Police can apply to a magistrate for extension of that period if necessary. Once a a person has been charged, depending on the seriousness of the offence they will either be detained, in custody pending a court hearing or released on bail. That is the way it works in the UK anyway - and I think the US process is not too dissimilar. In these circumstances I think you would have to agree that a person freely boasting about having sex with minors, would give police 'reasonable suspicion' that he may actually have been having sex with minors... Claiming to be God is not an indication that you may have broken any laws. Claiming that you are a paedophile however is something that you would be highly unlikely to do unless it was true, and such a claim should therefore be investigated. Or do you believe that we should all have the 'right' not to be arrested on suspicion of a crime? I guess that would be a very good way to reduce the prison population to zero.....
Shadychris
Perhaps the Thai authorities need to do an investigation and seek his extradition for trial and incarceration in Thailand. Yes, it seems a trial might be a fair thing, before the requested hanging. Certainly - first a trial in the US to ascertain if he he broken laws overseas for which he can be punished for. Then if found guilty serve a sentence in the US. And in that case when served, then deport him to Thailand to go through the same process again. Pretty sure a long spell in a Thai jail will teach him much more of a lesson than a few years spent in safe isolation in a Western 'holiday camp' jail complete with Pool tables, TV, reasonable food and medical care.... Edit: and then maybe hang him for good measure. Edited February 12, 2016 by Shadychris

If you read the full article it's pretty obvious the Feds had plenty of reason to arrest this guy. He was scheduled for a "Detention Hearing" the next day, which while I'm not positive, likely is something like an arraignment where a plea is entered. Federal law says they have to do that within 48 hours (72 if on a weekend). Even pedophiles have rights in the US. If a person thinks they are being held unlawfully they have the right to file a "writ of habeas corpus" (Guantanamo excepted of course but that's a whole different discussion). It's scary for me to think this guy has a house in Khlong Yai, where I have several family members, some of whom are very young. Glad to see he's off the streets. ronrat
Albeit Thailand is known for its sex industry. This guy needs to be behind bars. Seeing kids is a crime no matter where it is done. The fact that he is a teacher makes it all the worse. Good thing the U.S. recognises this and will hold him accountable. Let's see how he likes being someone's bitch once he is in prison. I doubt the mostly black prison population of Alabama will find anything remotely attractive about this creep.
Doc46
It always amazes me that guys like this boast about their exploits, and on facebook, no less. If you are doing something dodgy, rule #1, SHUT THE <deleted> UP about it. The 9 to 15 reference in the story is kind of vague. I am assuming it refers to the ages of his 'friends'. Sick bastard. Guess a lot of parents in Conecuh County are going to be worried now if that perp was teaching their kids. Boasting is a common trait among these guys. In his mind it's like he won the lottery, he can't just keep quiet about it, it's about reliving the experience. Thus they are quite easy to spot, as some sort of 'underage' reference will keep coming up in conversation. The more they brag about it the better it is (that's how stupid they are ),,,then there is a better chance that the Maggots get caught,,

cmiuc
he must have accomplices... I can't see someone coming from abroad and seeing a kid and say, "lets have sex" yes? someone fed his evil trait... and my guess is that is sick thai guys... otherwise... he couldn't brag on his encounters... so yes he is at the end of the matter... but the ones who orchestrated and gave him what he wanted is just as guilty if not more... What annoys me is.. the hotel, or bar, or restaurant, or sex bar that "SOLD" him the young boys life to him bear the most guilt.... if any person goes in to any hotel and tells the bell boy want a "sao" or whatever... they don't say, we don't have that... they say, "it will cost this much for this many hours, or the sort.." so while we are hanging the farang out to dry...(and deservedly so), there are some other major players who need to also accept the cost of death for "selling" this or many other boys in this case..." Justice in Thailand is blind, it only shines on the one they want... and in the police world, it seems farangs are the ones who are the "only" one to be blamed and why? because of MONEY... and FACE.... So Thailand needs to FIRST clean up its own backyard... then perverts won't come here... clean up all this human trafficking... then they have nothing to report on, coz those PERVERTS and other crap that washes in from the airports will be under control... STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING Thailand! Edited February 12, 2016 by cmiuc

I remember attending some talks from government agencies there, frightening stuff. But it's nowhere near so open. But of course, some just like to slag Thailand off, regardless of the facts. arrowsdawdle
US teacher allegedly travelled to Thailand for child sex STAFF WRITER BANGKOK: -- Clarence Edward Evers Jr, a computer teacher at a high school in Alabama, was arrested on Thursday morning for various child pornography offences and for travelling to a foreign country with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct. He is said to have visited Thailand regularly over the past decade to have sex with boys, and repeatedly bragged about these misdeeds over email, according to AL.com. The emails reportedly date back as far as 2004 and many are graphic in their descriptions. In 2014, Evers confided in one email about recent related prosecutions in Thailand, saying “I still plan to go this summer, but I definitely have to rethink my playtime strategy. It sure seems more apparent every day that we were there at a very good time in history, and that those good times are exactly that: history.” The investigation into Evers is huge, reports WKRG News, and has been over a year in the making, starting back at the end of 2014 when US Homeland Security received a tip-off from an attaché regarding the sexual abuse of a minor in Bangkok. For instance in Sweden any 15 year old girl/boy can have sex with anyone 15 years or older. You're talking about age of consent for those past puberty, which varies all over the place. Including the U.S. in MANY states being similar to Sweden but the lowest being 16 not 15 (within that state). In the accused's home state, the age of consent is 16. But this guy is charged with going after ages 9 to 15. I know humans are maturing quicker now, but somehow I doubt many 9 year olds have entered puberty and reached the age of being responsible for adult level decisions. TheKnave
The guy is pinched, and will get his day in court. What really sickens and, frankly, scares me is the broom and pitchfork gang that can't contain their own sadistic fantasies about what should happen to these types. Condoning rape and violence in prison, taking cheap shots at the guy's appearance, etc. Better look into your OWN latent tendencies, kids. Sick is as sick does...
