Peaceful, Relaxing Hotel/spa/resort, Suggestions Please.

Have spent several hours trying to find a place to stay during the coming week - Monday23rd/Saturday28th October. Can anyone make any suggestions of places they know about or have stayed at?

We are looking for somewhere peaceful, no motorised jet-skis etc, to relax and unwind, just lie around (hopefully in the sun), clear blue sea to swim in, drink cocktails at sunset, pleasant staff etc. There must be somewhere that is smaller in size, say a hundred rooms or less, that is affordable, which for us is around 6,000Bt per night. Open to suggestions of area, but Phuket would seem a reasonable bet in coming week, weather forecast is fair ... but Samui, Krabi, Lanta etc all possible.

This place looks good Pimalai but reviews I have read are mixed, from perfect through to awful!

Also got to get there from Jomtien area, so may see about flight from Utapao on Bangkok Air or else via Suvarnabhumi, any comments on this welcome.

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. We actually decided on the Mangosteen (before reading your recommendation) so well done on accurate analysis! Unfortunately it was fully booked. At least we now have a selection for next time.

We ended up going to Koh Chang, saved a lot of travelling time and over over 10,000Bt travel costs. We were lucky with the weather, sunshine nearly all the time. Stayed at Panviman Resort on Klong Prao Beach, it was ok but nothing special and we found that Koh Chang beaches (at least White Sands ...wishful thinking ... and Klong Prao) were hardly worth travelling to. Won't be in any rush to return, much prefer Koh samet, although I gather that a couple of islands off Chang are better.

We got so desparate trying to find an 'affordable' good resort in Thailand (checked Chang, Krabi, Phuket, Lanta etc) that we looked at Bali, they seem to have a far better selection and would have booked one, but again it was full :-(

So next time Phuket ... but book ahead :-)

You could also try Koh Lanta. I haven't been yet but I've heard it's like Patong was 20 years ago. Couple of nice looking resorts.
