Bike with greenbook but no tax has been paid in 5 years.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Can anyone help or give me some advice?

I've just bought a cheap 2nd hand motorbike with greenbook. However, it hasn't been taxed in 5 years. Is this a big problem?

Can I take it to the local office and pay the back-tax?

Thanks,

Justin.

If all documents are in order then Yes Pay the back taxes and the Book will be current.....I did it once on a Bike that was 10 Years behind in Taxes

You can pay the back taxes, I think there is also a very small fine included. Just note as I recently paid back tax of 3 years on a bike I have owned for 10 years, it had a Surat plate as bought it in Samui, however when I went to Phetchaburi as now live in this area, they took the plate and issued a new Petchaburi one at just over 200 baht, whereas befor only paid tax yearly was never a problem. Is your plate from the same province you are living in now?

The bike is registered in Bangkok and I'm down here on Samui.

You may need to do the same as me then....it isn't a problem just means you get a Surat or Samui plate. The yearly back tax is only a few hundred baht per year.,,,You may even get my old plate as only a few weeks ago I did minesmile.png .

you can pay the back taxes at any DLT, just take the green book with you.

You will need to get the government insurance first for the current year, also an inspection certificate of the bike as its over 5 years old

Not paid in 5 years. So sure it will need an inspection be done before tax/insurance can be paid.
