It's legal in Canada, and all but 5 States in the U.S., but they are trying to demonize it as we speak, for all the wrong reasons

It's been proven to lower blood sugar (at Prince of Songla Universtity in Hat Yai of all places) and lower weight, with double-blind tests

It's a superb anxiety and stress-buster par exellence

It's been illegal in Thailand since 1945 - because it competed with tax dollars brought in from the Opium trade. It's all about money.

It is been proven to be beneficial in weaning addicts off ya ba and other dangerous drugs

Behind closed doors many Thais in the medical field want to see it re-legalized for that very reason

It is a cousin to the coffee plant, and about as addictive (meaning it isn't, in general)

Big Pharma would like to patent it as another designer drug, like Ephedrine, which also came from a plant and was also "demonized," until it became a million times worse in pill form, with many detrimental side- effects that did not come with the leaf

In moderation it is not harmful, although tolerance can develop if you overdo it

There has not been one recorded death from this substance, unlike legal stuff like cigarettes, Big Pharma pills and alcohol

Do your research before you judge it bad by default

What say you?

Forgot to mention - are you often lacking energy in the Thai heat perchance, or even in northern Europe or North America? That's why it was (and is) traditionally used by laborers working in the hot sun all the live-long day

Joni Mitchell knows. They paved paradise - put up a parking lot

Since kratom is illegal in Thailand and discussion of illegal activities is in violation of this forum rule:

3) You will not post about activities or links to websites containing such material that are illegal in Thailand. This includes but is not limited to: gambling, betting, pornography, illegal drugs, fake goods/clothing, file sharing of pirated material, pyramid schemes, etc. Discussion of the above is permitted only as news items, but never as a "how to" topic.
