BANGKOK: -- The BTS Skytrain announced this morning it will offer two free trips for Rabbit card owners who were affected by the train line delays on Wednesday.

Passengers who are eligible for the free trips must own a Rabbit card or the 30-day Smartpass card. They must have trips remaining on their cards from the day of the train havoc (Wednesday, Feb. 24).

And everyone else just screw yourself.

And everyone else just screw yourself.

What's your suggestion then? That everyone is the city is offered free rides? How would that be handled?

Recently in Australia there were major problems with rail services on regional lines in Victoria, resulting in many cancelled trains. The state government offered everyone, free train rides for a week as compensation.

Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said all V/Line travel will be free from this Saturday until the end of January to compensate commuters.

That type of customer service solution is anathema to the Thai mindset. Here it's more like "sucks to be you".

Well, it's also in response to a much bigger problem- we're not talking about one single line having issues for a day there, we're talking about mass cancellation and issues with trains over a longer period. I mean, to me giving free rides smarts and Rabbit card owners seems like a fair response.

You'd have to be pretty bitter about this country to twist free rides into "sucks to be you", but I guess some people need to vent and better they do it here than out in public. :)
