BANGKOK:-- The friend and business partner of a Thai man who was found murdered in Cambodia has posted photos on Facebook showing his extraordinary wealth.

Mr Aroon Wongrak, part owner of the Pailin Flamingo Casino in Cambodia says he posted the photos in a bid to end speculation and rumours that he was involved in the murder of Somnuek Charunchirathian, 51, due a longstanding debt estimated to be around 30 million Baht.

The photos, which show Mr Aroon alongside a huge stack of cash, expensive imported cars and inside his luxury mansion, proves he was not involved the murder as he already has more than enough of his own money and would not need to kill someone over debts, he claimed.

Mr Aroon also asked people to stop calling him a suspect as the police have not taken any legal action against him over the killing of Mr Somnuek.

Police are so far yet to arrest anyone in connection with the murder and investigations remain ongoing.

Isn't there a law about hoarding so much untraceable cash?

This guys actions doesn't prove anything towards his guilt or innocence for a murder but it does leave him open to other things. One thing for sure! He has just shown he has enough in cash to pay any bribe to the police should they desire it.

The way the legal system works here, with that much cash of course he could "prove" his innocence. With that much he would be able to provide DNA samples, police character witnesses, CCTV footage of him being somewhere miles from the crime scene and could probably throw in a couple of foreign goats for good measure

1. The cash could be borrowed from the casino cage, just for the photo.

2. The car could be leased.

3. The house could be mortgaged to the hilt.

Many other reasons to kill somebody besides money. Nothing proven here.

If he's dumb enough to think some Facebook photos are enough to convince us of his innocence, then perhaps he is dumb enough to have committed the crime.

As to the police not having charged him..... well, people with that much money generally don't get charged with anything over here, because... Thailand. sad.png
