Must be some bigwig visiting.

Just been stopped on my bike by Orgasmic, told to turn off my engine and lights, and made to wait almost 20 mins until some 25 vehicle convoy came though with all lights flashing and sirens going. Either that, or someone's late for dinner. angry.gif

Yeah, saw lots of coppers waiting by the road this afternoon and assumed they were going to shut it down for a VIP. Usually happens when a member of the Royal Family comes to Samui.

I've also seen them, both police this evening and at noon some cars followed by an ambulance, but only about 10.

I met this 30 vehicle convoy head on as I drove from Hua Thanon to Lamai at 9.30pm last night. The leading police motor cycle was driving with full beam headlights directly in the path of oncoming traffic forcing them to stop and leaving in their wake a string of accidents. There was a huge accident with bodies on the road in front of Manathai Resort that was no doubt caused by by this senseless and dangerous motorcade ! Grrrrr.....

Whatmade me laugh in just over 5 mins later as I passed through Bangrak, three empty songthaews went whizzing past with a police escort front and back, with all lights and sirens going.

Been told from a friend in the Navy, who just went ashore in Nathon this afternoon, that his ship is here to protect (some from) the royal family visiting Samui.

Yeah seems to happen two or three times a year that a member of the royal family visits .... (perhaps more times!?)

Got informed from our navy-friend that the visitor is Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali, Consort of the Crown Prince.

I was told that today HRH and her entourage were at snorkling trip with Lomlahk – believe it could have been the group of 4 speedboats I saw departing late morning and returning this afternoon.
