March 11, 201610 yr Have you ever noticed those professionals around the place, the ones that should know better but seem to ignore Dispite knowing better. Police speeding down the road on their scooters, no safety hat. Counsellors with substance abuse problems Financial advisors without any money Paramedics that drink heavily, engage in questionable sexual practises and smoke like a chimmney ..........And so forth. Do you think this sort of thing is more prevelent in Thailand than other places you've been to, if so, why do you think It's the case?
March 11, 201610 yr My close friend I went to school with went into pulmonology....he smokes like a stack so do his partners in the practice....I went and visited one of my good friends and fell thru the bathroom floor halfway thru my business....dry rot. He builds houses for a living.....One buddy I have if you ever go out with him in his car its a 50-50 chance your gonna run out of gas...he owns a dozen filling stations.....I figure he enjoys the low fuel light. Its not just Thailand these people are everywhere.
March 11, 201610 yr A friend was telling me about visit to the same GP that I used to use some years ago. Friend was getting a lecture from the doc about his drinking, and the advice went roughly along these lines. Doc: "You're drinking every day? That's not good. You have to let your body have at least two days off a week, so make sure you take two consecutive days and abstain, OK?" Friend: "Two days off, eh?" Doc: "You could do what I do. I don't drink at all from Monday to Friday: I 'save up' all my drinks and have them at the weekend." Friend: "Doc, how would you define binge drinking?" Doc: "Errrm..." It fits with what I saw of the Doc at various parties etc. He was absolutely hammered most weekends.
March 13, 201610 yr No, it's not unique to Thailand. Back home, cops are psychopaths, teachers are idiots, shrinks are nutjobs, and nurses are reckless.
March 13, 201610 yr Nobody could ever know if Thailand is any worse than any other country in the points you mention. I would say it is the same in any country with the possible exception of the police. I don't think there are many, if any, other countries where the police sometimes ride motorbikes without helmets or ride down the sidewalk.
