beard trimmers and cutthroat blade

Featured Replies

If there's an Amorn down there they carry some....

I got tired of the Wahl's failing once or twice a year....

I ordered a Kemei titanium off Ebay....Came with 2 slide in batteries and a large assortment of fences & 3 different cutting heads - it's been nothing short of fabulous.....

How much that cost.....any customs issues

It was about 800B.....No customs problem or charges....post-114384-0-34256500-1458386118_thumb.

You can buy Kemei off the street on Sukhumvit costs around 700 baht I bought the same in MBK for 650 baht and as Pgrahhm said their very good two years after still haven't used the second battery yet.

Anyone used a beard trimmer to close crop their hair? Just curious to know whether this works, or is it better to have this done by a barber?

Nope - still have hair...

I got a beard trimmer a while back from Robinsons, a Remington model 6060. Came with a variety of trimming heads, of which I use two at most. Cost about ฿1500 I think.

Cut throat razors...they only belong in slasher movies!

Are these specific batteries ...or can buy anywhere ?

Truefitt and Hill are at The Emporium, will have all the cut throat shaving equipment you will ever need. Not cheap though.

Look like specific but as I said they give you two and after over two years of use ( once or twice a month to trim my hair....what there is of it) the first batterys still going strong.

So do I, which is - if you think about it - a perfectly logical basis on which to ask the question: Is a beard trimmer OK for trimming the magnificent, luxurious, flowing locks on my gorgeous head? I'm just curious as to what type of job it does, whether the result looks ratty or neat, whether I will end up looking like Becks, or whether to abandon this idea and visit a barber every couple of weeks.

The reason is that at 65, I feel a change is needed in my life, and I want to be a metrosexual.

Ahhh - thank you Kev. When you go back to your country, do the young lasses call you "handsome man"? This should tell you whether you are doing it right.

Are you looking for a real one you must sharpen on a strop each day? If so, there is a T & F shop in Central Embassy that has them.

If you want the type that uses half a double edge disposable blade, those can be bought for a few bought and any beauty supply store.

Not sure my sharpening skills ..... shall go look ... cheers

I personally have never used one, but most people I know that do all say that you ruin your first one trying to learn to sharpen and strop it. You have to strop is before every use, but stone sharpen in less. So you might want to buy a cheap one on ebay to practice on.

Otherwise, maybe give the type that uses disposable blades a try? Would be a lot easier, cheaper, and save a ton of time. Should be about 100 baht for the handle and the blades should be 2-5 baht each (and you only use half the blade each time).
