I have a house owned by my wife which I consider to be my main residence in Thailand but recent circumstances dictate that I now need to rent a second residence in Bangkok and anticipate that my time will alternate between the 2 places, maybe a week at a time spent in each. I currently make my 90 day reports to Jomtien immigration, will I really need to submit a new form TM28 every week to either Jomtien or Bangkok immigration as I move between the two? I am sure I am not the only one in this situation, how do others manage if they have two addresses.

A further complication will arise regarding the Bangkok address as my wife will be taking over a rental agreement from her sister for this residence and I will have no documentation to prove that it is my address at all.

You will not need to do a TM28 form every week. You would only need that if you change your address to Bangkok for your extensions and 90 day reporting.

No office I know of enforce the TM28 reporting for staying in another province more than 24 hours.

Would I be likely to experience difficulties if the Landlord at the rental property noticed the 'farang' staying regularly at his condo and submitted a TM30 form to immigration as presumably he should be required to do.

I cannot imagine a landlord doing that. Anyway it would be like going someplace and staying in a hotel on a holiday.

Thanks Ubonjoe, sets my mind at rest, didn't fancy getting involved with Bangkok immigration, Jomtien do a pretty decent job and I'm happy just dealing with them.

Well, not exactly. If you go to a hotel then the hotel will report your stay. Moving around as a farang in Thailand is an adminstrative challenge.

Not if you have a extension of stay. You always maintain your permanent residence the TM30 or online report submitted by a hotel does not change that. Done it many times without a problem.

Here is my exact situation which is very much like yours if not exact. I've been doing this for 5 years. Based on what I see going down at the Immigration in Jomtien. In the end, this is my opinion not hear to debate with others what might go wrong etc. etc.. although they have gotten much better it seems they do not know the left hand from the right? So I go with this rule.. what they do not know doesn't hurt them? This is the same rule I used with the U.S. Government what and where I live is none of their business.

The rule that foreigner renting need to be reported to Immigration has been around for some time. It was never really a priority from what I've seen until the bombing happened in Bangkok. After that investigation it was uncovered there are lots of people overstaying? So the favor now with Immigration is those who overstay.

I have always used my wife house address for everything although last year my manager ask for my passport update because she had to make her report now. After the request I was wondering what should I do? would they actually know? I had many doubts but I just went ahead again did my report as usual, no problem! Did my yearly extension, no problem! So, I'm just going to continue to do what is best for me!

Thank you. Sounds like I should follow your example, just ignore the 2nd address and continue to report everything from the house as usual.
