Sounds very strange. Intravenous antibiotics should not be given to out patients for self administration.

Home administration of IV medication is very common in many countries, especially the US. Home health agencies oversee it though not unusual for a home health nurse to teach a family member or the patient how to do it, with periodic spot visits to see how they are getting on, or restart the IV if needed.

In any case OP is not asking about self-administration but rather home nursing.

Best option is to go to nearby government hospital nursing department who often have rosters of nurses looking for after hours work.

Not so strange, but a first time here for me here in Thailand, too. Patient not insured, had to leave hospital as no funds after 2 days and treatment for very serious infection with complications / blood-poisoning.

Was given/packed the full course of antibiotics to get administered by his local Dr.

But as condition worsening, now already in City Hospital, where he will still have to pay, but hopefully more affordable. Another case which shows the pitfalls of no insurance & no money. Seen MANY times.... MS>
