PATTAYA:-- Officials investigating a wasteland in Jomtien formerly inhabited by a deranged local woman made an alarming discovery on Wednesday, when they found the remains of dozens of dogs, reports Thaivisa News.

Some are thought to have been stolen from people living in the area. Many of the canine bones were stripped of flesh and scattered about the area.

But mystery surrounds what actually happened to the animals as investigations continue.

Police had earlier taken in a mentally unstable woman known as Porn and sent her for observation and treatment to a psychiatric hospital.

She had been known to cause trouble for people living in the Jomtien 2 area creating disturbances and this had been reported to local authorities.

Police and local administration officials poring over the area where Porn had stayed, said they found the remains of about 50 to 60 dogs on the ramshackle site.

They said that some residents had reported losing pets in the area. Porn had been well known for looking after animals and some residents said up to ten dogs at a time were to be seem where she set up home.

Perhaps if the local 'pets' weren't left out in the streets day & night things like this might not happen.

Sounds more like some lady that was bonkers & living the same way decided to put them out of their misery.

I could not agree more. Forgetting the strays, even pets are allowed to run riot, crap everywhere, attack and are generally un cared for. They are a health problem due to the crap they leave everywhere and the owners don't care.

So unless the lady in question actually opened garden gates and stole them, the owners have showed their total lack of care and can't really complain now.

Agree with the way many people just occasionally put out food and leave the dogs to their own devices. However it is the "owners" that are at fault not the dogs. The owners have no right to complain but the dogs in no way deserve this. If she was abducting and putting down the owners neglecting the dogs I would be sympathetic. Killing dogs which, many of which already have a hard time of it, is just sickening.

Yes of course, but along with that is the dogs attacking or trying to. I care more for people than dogs. In an ideal world there would not be a problem, but here is far from ideal.

So many times i have had dogs lunge at me while i was riding either a motorbike, pushbike or just walking. The Thai people just smile or laugh.

It really is time to stop this, crapping, barking, attacking.....................

Not sure if ayone else noticed - but there has been a clean up of "street dwellers" in Jomtien recently.

There were several near the Kiss food on the 2nd road have gone and further up near the new Dusit / AD buildings the police turned up and chased off a woman living with dogs in the jungle there. Not sure if it is the same one in this story ?

I have no idea where they took/sent/returned these people to .....

Personally I think they should clean up the rubbish first, the dogs next, then the people... It would make me feel less like being "Stig of the Dump" every day I go outside.

It's so filthy everywhere in this area. On 2 nd road there Jomtien ( behind night market beach road and further) there are dozens of wild dogs , and rubbish strewn everywhere. Soi 9 has a pack of 14 dogs keeping everyone up at night and sometimes menacing.its very sad, but something has to be done.

"Forgetting the strays, even pets are allowed to run riot". LOL

Do you live in a different Pattaya? The Pattaya I live in has thousands of soi dogs living on every street, park and empty lot. These are dogs born in the "wild" and are not "strays".

The empty lot where this lady resided no doubt had many resident soi dogs... but according to this article there's no such thing - the dead dogs had to be stolen pets.
